Suzyj
Did you clock the head perpendicular to the axis.
And that is a novel approach clamp it down on wood  Shocked Shocked
with the clamp in the middle  laughingdp laughingdp

But if it works  Wink

You'd be amazed what you can get away with if you take light cuts Smiley

Working out how to clamp it took a little while on account of the odd shape.  I figured it was fairly stout, so clamped it in the middle, applying only modest pressure.  Before boring, I centred it with a dial gauge in a collet, and got it within about 0.02mm of middle top and bottom, so I figured my clamp wasn't bending the triple excessively.  The mill I used has been very accurately set up so all the axes are perpendicular - it's one of the nicer ones at work Smiley

One other thing I did was to put bits of 3mm aluminium sheet in the slots, and do the pinch bolts up on those, to ensure nothing would vibrate.

I did a test fit this evening with my new clipons (thanks TAftonomos).  Getting all the cables and brake lines etc to fit in is a huge PITA.

The shiny fork legs look, well, shiny Smiley

Now to pull the triple back off for painting, before the final assembly.  Then I'll swap the brakes over.  If everything goes well, I should have it sorted over the weekend.

fark me glad you know what you're doing cuz I only got it sussed when you had the forks in!! great work!  laughingdp

I would of ended up with the triple clamp spinning off in to the work shop and impaling people!

Naah, I haven't got a clue - I make it all up as I go along.  I'm patient though, so muddle through eventually.

Now to pull the triple back off for

... getting rid of the, now redundant, handlebar mount thingies.

Looks good Suzy. The red fork caps are a nice touch.

I don't know but I hope Perry knows how sexy it is to have a partner who knows her way around machines!

+1 Betty on milling down the riser mount .... Suzy it would really finish off the triple nicely!
