A thread in the MV Forum from a middle aged rider getting back on a bike after 15 years of nil riding,  with limited  experience before. He decides to buy a brand spanking new 1078 MV Agusta....the rest you can read....

The guy lives around Sydney........three months ago he paid in full for the bike,  and has been posting of its progress ever since.....

1    Well, the long wait is over..almost. I'm picking up the bike on Tuesday arvo !

Pics posted in my Photo Gallery.

2    Thanks mv2envy ! As you can imagine, I haven't stopped grinning/smiling since this morning....I cant wait till Tuesday !
3   red/silver - pics in my photo gallery....

mitchy, you have no idea how i feel right now...and I can only imagine what I'm gonna feel like on Tuesday arvo when I pick it up !

yeh, i am trying my best to put on only mv parts....i might even ask sato or gilles if they can put an "f4" logo on their sets....and I really want GP shift....
4   5 hours to go!
5    Well He finally got it.
The first 2 images are of glen collecting the bike and leaving. The last image was him going back past the shop - going alright for a bloke who hasn't ridden for 10 years. No wonder he wants the GP shift!!! Well I thinks its glen anyway! j
6  Howdy folks ! Am I buggered ! Took the bike for a quick 6 hour ride yesterday, only about 300km, but what a feeling ! I'm feeling the aches and pains of not riding for the last 14 years !!! Sore palms, centre of back, clutch hand slightly worn ! All good, just need to get used to riding again....
Problems incurred / noticed so far:
1. the rear view mirror is great to see my elbows!
2. the standard rearset (non-adjustable) and the gap between the rearset and brake/gear lever is NOT good for people with size 13 feet !!
3. there is no 'steering lock stopper', so if you turn the wheel to either side (full turn) and you have your gloves on the throttle, your gloves get pinned between the throttle and gas tank, causing you to NOT be able to withdraw/release your hand. Spoke to a few others who said that on the older models they put a recess into the front part of the tank so that this would not happen.
4. the turning circle is very BIG when you are going slow and not leaning.
5. As a result of item 3 and 4 above, and the fact that the bike is heavy and doesnt handle/turn good during slow (walking) speed, I dropped my bike (twice! DOH ! within 5 minutes) whilst trying to park the bloody thing - rode the bike for 4 hours, went to a mates place, was slightly raining, the tyres slipped, my gloves were pinned, misjudged the turning clearance, couldn't straighten the wheel out and bingo  - fairing scratched, tank scratched (from the buckles of my boots as came off - I should have known not to straddle the bike as I park it !!!), handlebar ends scratched, clutch/brake levers scratched...all only cosmetic and paint - no breakages or serious damage, thank god. Old goats like me who still believe they are 22yrs old should be more careful !!! TrooperLu is going to make a fortune from me in spares over the next few months !! And hopefully the bike will be in one piece for the BBQ on the 2nd April !!! (with a few scratches...) Oh well, this bike is sooner becoming a track bike !!
The performance is breathtaking - an adrenaline rush that's simply astounding. Corners very well at speed - precise with good feedback to the rider. Interesting to note the change in resonance in the exhaust as the km's tick by..it's getting 'throatier' and in the tunnel it sounds awesome !
Will do some pics later today....
Gotta go, the sun's shining and the weather here for the next few days is supposedly raining...(who knows, maybe I can drop the bike again today ?!)
7 800 km now with planned meet at Harry's Cafe da Wheels on Friday night, with maybe a ride afterwards which may take it to the 1,000km service.
What a bike ! Simply unbelievable ! I LOVE the MVAgusta !
Stalled the bike at lights 2 times so far - the second time in full view of some sexy ladies ! and next to a dirt bike which pulled up next to me and rode away.... Oh well, had a chuckle, restarted the bike and casually rode away (I am still getting used to the throttle response and am trying not to 'over rev it' during the run in period).
The exhausts are tuning themselves and running in beautifully and the sound through the tunnel is magnificent !
Strangely enough, several bikes have pulled up next to me, had a look at the bike, and then stayed well back behind me - whether it's because I ride like an amateur or because they dont want their 'sub-standard looking' bike seen next to mine, is undetermined??!
8I am gonna have to postpone my riding plans for a while....
A car decided to do an illegal u-turn right in front of me today from where he was parked on the side of the road and I t-boned the car at 60km/h and sailed over the top of the car to the roadside (slow motion adrenalin!) ...haven't seen my bike as an ambulance took me away. Just got out of hospital - no broken bones - except for a broken heart because the police have told me the bike is written off....
Jacket, boots, gloves and kevlar jeans (jeans are spotless !!! cannot even see where the jeans slid on the road - Hornee Jeans - 100% recommended and tested!!!) enabled me to get away with only a busted lip, torn foot ligaments, thigh / elbow / knee scrapes and bruising down the body...
Absolutely shattered..maybe I will now wait till the 1000RR is released in Australia !
Will post pics soon...
LOL  - first person in Australia to buy the MY2010 F4 1000R and the first person to have it written off Huh?!!!!
Ride safe everyone....

Brian here now.....some people are just not meant to be riding bikes i feel.....poor bugger though.....

Silly buggar should have known the car on the side of the road would do an illegal U turn.  They always do.

Awesome. Hope Jo enjoys the new addition.. Nothing like a pup around the house to fill the place with action...

Might be time for me to come and grab that bag, though, before it gets "puppied" or "poopied".

Ok, these wingsuit dudes are officially broken. This is the craziest adrenalin sport I have ever seen. Check out the powerline dodging at ~1:45 and the guy dropping into the ravine at ~3:20.

Bit quiet on here today.

Saw my first Diavel out on the open road today ... nothing else to report other than someone obviously has one.

I didn't think they had any stock yet - perhaps it was Wally riding around on the Frasers Carbon one?

According to Ducati Melbourne - all Diavels they get in are pre-sold already.  ie about 1 per month.  Which means at least four getting around Melbourne.

Anyone seen them?

Its worth calling in and having a look at Matty's photgraphic exhibition in Crown St, Surrey Hills.......The official opening last Saturday night went off well, to well really, with people spilling out onto the street. And as the following photos show, he even caters with valet parking for bikes.....!  Closes this Saturday i think.......Is open till 6pm........Only one criticism, not one photo of me or my bikes..........dam, golly gosh.........!
