are you insane  Grin those are Mag covers. keep those babies that color.

But painting mag covers black to look like alu is the opposite of painting alu covers gold to look like mag - worth several million cred points.

Thanks for the plug Kevin and good work with the bike - I'll certainly be looking forward to seeing the finished product.

That front end looks great. I have a set of GSXR 1000 Ohlins forks sitting in my garage ready to go on my bike, but im nervous about pulling the front end apart.

Seems like Monsters are inherently difficult to turn into Cafe bikes because of the angle of the frame. One would have to do a lot of work to modify with the back half of the frame or the tank and seat in order to get that flat profile cafe look. Case in point:

Angled frame with lots of work above (I know it's an SS, not exactly a monster)

This guy got about as close as you can get without some serious chopping and/or thin-air fabrication

I'm not trying to be a nay-sayer. In fact, I'm really impressed with your skills and wish I could start a similar project. Just trying to add to the discussion and maybe a little inspiration.
Cheers, I'm enjoying watching the process!  popcorn

I think that's a xx9 series frame.

You would know better than I. Thought I saw something mentioned about it started as a 900ss, but that could have been about a different bike. It's obviously far from where it started, so whatever it was based off of is nearly arbitrary, imo.

More pictures of those mirrors please. I think they look pretty good from the angles you've shown.

Where did get your front end and brakes? I'm sure it is mentioned earlier, but I'm feeling a little lazy and did want to search for it.
