Hi there excuse my ignorance if this has been posted earlier but i couldnt find anything, i am coming off my under 250cc licence and am looking at buying a 796, but i am just wondering if anyone knows anything about any new models coming out in the near future, I have heard about a 896 coming out in the near future,  I am currently riding a honda cbf 250 so cant wait to ride a real bike

Don't know about any 896's that may or may not see the light of day, but the 796 makes plenty of power. My old 750 makes enough power to kill me If I don't pay attention and the 796 engine is almost twice as good. You should really ask yourself If the bike has all the options you want on it for the money. If fully adjustable suspension and dry clutches are not must haves, go with the 796.

I have not heard that one.  I doubt this is real.  However, I guess they could bring back the 904 cc displacement engine, update it with any recent updates like the vacuum castings & latest head designs, and then call it the 896.  An 896 wouldn't be so close in displacement to the 696 so that would make sense.

i would highly doubt it too... 4 engine models in a line seems a bit much.  the 796 made a lot of sense as the tween step btwn the 696/1100 with a SSS and a bit more power, but a 896 would seem pretty redundant.

I upgraded from my frist bike, a 650 cc cruiser, to a 2011 796. It's ridiculously fast and probably weighs about the same as your 250.  More than enough power for a new rider for anything you could possibly need.

It's agile, sounds nasty, and puts  a smile on your face every time you turn it on.  Can't go wrong.

It sounds like this bike is insane what's the learner curve like for a relatively new rider should I be looking at some else. How "easy" is the bike to ride

if they did I'd call Ducati the GM of bikes.  No need to fill that gap IMO.

The only way an 896 would be possible is if it was the replacement for the 796.

Its should be good for beginners and experienced alike. It makes good torque across a wide band. It makes enough power that you shouldn't outgrow it in six months, but not so much power that you should be afraid of it. Just use as much as you need.

I am looking at getting both the trestle frame and the tank painted white and am wondering if anybody has already done it. They just seem to have white and red

I just upgraded from the 696 to a 796 with ABS and I honestly dont think I could be happier, it stops on a dime thanks to the ABS, will pull the front wheel up in 1st with no clutch (and will bounce up in 2nd) so it clearly makes more power than you need on the street, and the resculpted seat is a godsend.  Also, they went with the single sided swingarm and (imho) vastly better looking wheel design. Basically...its a tame, house broken version of the 1100.

When I got the 696 and they unveiled the 796 3 months later I felt cheated...if they make an 896 I think I would honestly be content staying on the Seven.

IF this were true, it would be a good thing, but as a movement of the 796 to the next size as it's too close the 696

in fact. a 696, 896, 1100 lineup would make WAY more sense than the 796.

i find that twins are much more sensitive to throttle input than other bikes.  once you achieve solidly manipulating the throttle in small increments, you're good to go.
