I love the random stuff people do for a living 

So you're basically looking for a temperature probe that can get the "core" temp of a book while it's sitting inside some sort of book torture chamber, and transmit back that info to someone outside?

OH Btw it has to survive in a vacuum too.

What is the wall thickness and material of your vacuum chamber?  Might rule out some types of wireless signal...
