S*R Rearsets wouldn't bolt up...

There was a guy i think on the old board who had a set of S*R rearsets on a dss bike (can't find anything about it now). I believe all he needed, was to replace the swing arm pivot with one from an S*R and possibly the kick stand. Probably not just a simple bolt on but if you have the whole bike apart any way it shouldn't be too hard.

+1 to corey's post about S*R rearsets not working, and I seem to recall reading that ST rearsets won't be a good fit either... dunno, maybe I'm nuts, but I coulda sworn it was on here somewhere.

My fav cheapo mod from this site is the guy that Dremmel'd his beltcovers and glued in a couple pieces of left-over Gutter Guard, then rattle-canned the whole works black.  It worked out to be like a $10 mod, and in the pics he posted it looked like a million bucks.

There's another post floating around where another guy hacked his stock footpegs/hangers to lose a bunch of the extra stuff up top where the exhaust brackets bolt up... it really cleaned up the stock pegs.  Perfect solution if you're as cheap as you say (which is about as cheap as me, so it's all love over here).

Run a couple searches, maybe those mods will pop up.  They may not be exactly what you do, but they may get the thought process going.

bummer on the s*r rearsets

I have seen some chopped stock rearsets that were sanded and powdercoated, which I though looked pretty good. That may be cheap enough for me. I have to figure a way, however, to keep some rear footpegs so my girl can ride with me on occasion.

I've also seent he belt cover mod you describe, which I also like. As it is now, I have my belt covers chopped to next to nothing, although not in the pic as I had them off then.

weld tabs to the frame and use 1098/848 pegs.

When all the land lays in ruin... And burnination has forsaken the countryside... Only one guy will remain... My money's on...

with mild fabrication you could use something simple like tarozzi rear sets. basically you would need to make a plate that would bolt to your stock location and then drill a hole where you would like the peg to go and then source/fab the linkages to match.

W the front fairing gone, I think it looks good as is,
except f exhaust pipes w need some TLC.

Overhaul the Öhlins & forks + springs f your weight & make the fork internal match the rear
= money spent on stuff you`re really gonna enjoy, yuo`re already halfway there w the Öhlins!

Bang for the buck, I'd say the best aesthetic mod you can do is lose the air box (get pod filters) and move everything under the tank so you can see clear through the trellis frame. This will mostly involve rerouting a bunch of wires, moving the horn, etc. Go as far as you want with it. Not too big of a deal and cheap to do.

That tank is a classic. That frame is a classic. Highlight them both.

excellent suggestion.........that might be a plan

I've never even thought about or looked into pod filters.........any idea where I can find them?

TPO and Ducshop make pod filter kits.

you cant run the pod filters without velocity adapters without losing low end torque.

i dont like pod filters. because its to make the beast with two backsing loud. (as much as i love the intake noise, i rather have a super quiet bike than a really obnoxiously loud one. I like to be able to sneak out of places without noticing)

BUT if i had a super cool loud bike, yes pod filters + crank case breather mod once you delete the air filter and since your carbed maybe you have some sort of vaccum tube that needs some kind of fitting. i dont know.

oh and HID PROJECTOR RETROFIT!!!!

actually the 01 900 is FI.

I already have my airbox cut and K&N filter, so it's fairly loud already
