As far as loud pipes go, I have run just about every exhaust set up I can on my s2r 800 and now I am using a marving midpipe and stock cans. I feel as if I am not noticed nearly as much simply because I can not be heard. Now I know that is no legal defense but it sure makes me feel safer.
the way i see it... loud pipes dont save lives... but then again, it doesnt hurt either.

I agree that it doesn't save lives but it sure gets "some" attention. Which puts me a tiny bit at ease. Maybe it is all in my head

Well I'm boned if they bring this to PA. My damn pipes are too loud.. 100+ dB.
Oh, and why is my bike loud?
Because I make the beast with two backsing love the beautiful sound of an L twin.

Funny cause all the Ducati "purists" I know tell me that my boomtubes make the bike sound like a Harley.
Harley guys tell me that my Monster wants to sound like a Harley, but that nothing sounds like a Harley. I tell them if I detune my monster, cut 40% of it's power, and hang some leather tassles off the handlebars, they wouldn't know the difference. Truth be told, I would probably also need leather chaps and a black novelty helmet with stickers.

So how many times have you been punched in the face?
All true though.
But lets not make this another HD bashing thread, we have enough of those on here.

No punches thrown. We all work together (it might help that i am their boss) and ride together now and again. Trust me, being the lone Ducati in the endless see of Road Kings, I catch more shit than I throw.
We have plenty of harley bashing threads, and we have plenty of loud exhaust disscusions/arguments. But the thought of one thread doing both, WOW!

Officer: Yeah, I'm gonna need you to blow into this little machine here.
Guy: Ok...
Breathalyzer goes off.
Guy: How could you tell I was drunk? I was driving great!
Officer: Have you seen what was on the back of your bike?

In that situation, I would have probably put the helmet on my head.
