VDST diagnostic - P0115 Coolant Temperature Sensor
«

The VDST software just arrived in the mail, and I finished a TPS reset as the first part of a tuning session.
First thing that pops up once I connect is an engine warning!! Yikes!
Diagnostic Trouble Codes – Current:
P0115 Coolant Temperature Sensor [I'm guessing oil temp since it's an S2R, not an S4R]
---- 0001: Open Circuit/Short Circuit to Ground
Diagnostic Trouble Codes – Historic:
---- 0001: Signal above threshold
---- Diagnostic Complete
---- Warning Lamp OFF
I’ve never seen an engine warning light come up on the dash - The temperature is reading just fine on the VDST – 20 ambient and 19 engine. Starting it briefly brings it up to 30. If there was a short, would this still occure?
the highest I've ever seen the temp get was 110 celcius. Is this above normal operating temps?
How should I approach this one?
Your thoughts?

I would email Giamberto at TechnoResearch and ask him. They have pretty good support in my experience. My guess would be that it is an unused sensor that it is reporting ?for some reason?

I've never found the DTC's that the VDST finds to be of much use.
IIRC, the only one that was correct was for a #1 fuel injector 'shorted to ground' on a 748.
Not much help, as I already knew that cylinder wasn't getting any fuel.

Right - grain of salt. got it. Thanks.
So long as my co is at 5% and I'm not running too lean - and my temps don't shoot up, I'm thinking I'm probably good.
Cheers!
Sean.
