I do like the looks of the machine but I wouldn't want to be first year's 'test driver'

I wonder if that is the same seemless transmission that caused the false neutrals and put Rossi into pits at turn 1 twice in Indy?

The new bike is to be officially called the 1199 Panigale, for the neighborhood in which the Ducati factory is located....Borgo Panigale.

I was at PJ's at lunchtime and PJ told me that anyone who wants an 1199 Panigale should get his or her $1000 transferrable deposit in as soon as possible.  Delivery will begin in the March/April time frame and will be made in order of deposit receipt...so the sooner you make a deposit, the sooner you'll receive your new bike.

Price for the base model will be in the $18k range.  The "S" model will be more, of course.  There will also be a "Tricolore" model for a premium over the "S" model.

Get 'em while they're hot.
