I'm riding along on a 2 lane b highway, its just me and a black pick up truck ( f-150). I feel the guy pull up next to me, and I hear yelling. I don't even look over... maybe he wanted to race, but I just pull away. Slightly down the road I take an off ramp, (so now there are technically 3 lanes) and I glance at my rear view and there is a the pick up truck coming right at me. He continuously honks his horn and zips past me missing me by a hair.

With all those open lanes, the only conclusion I could come to is that this guy wanted to run me down. WTF world?

Another reason to invest in concealed carry... just kidding!  Evil

I haven't had anyone try this, and I don't understand why they would...mistaken identity? I don't think people realize how easily they could seriously hurt someone being an asshole.

Guys in pickup trucks somehow don't like guys on sporty bikes. I've been in a similar situation. It's war on wheels out there!

I didn't get a chance to see if his truck was the Harley edition, but even so...why try to kill me? if I didn't see him coming, it might of scared me enough to jerk the bike and i could of gone down.

-the truck was black, not hauling anything.

Apparently there are a lot of people on here think you should have stopped, called the police and wait for whatever was going to happen and not try to get away.

you have to read the other thread about the truck trying to run a guy down to understand...

but glad you are safe. Put the word out with your local riders with similar bikes.

tristantumble,
Where are you located? It would be a good idea to keep an eye out for people in your locale.

Depends on the area and driver.  The last couple of rides I've had drivers pull over to the should to let me pass.  I've also had had one split our group ride and almost take me out.  Some drivers of truck suffer from little dick syndrome; they're full of angst over how small they are and feel the need to go buy a big ass truck to compensate then proceed to try and run over anything smaller than their truck.

<sarcasm>  It's your fault.  I'm not sure why, but apparently, you are equally to blame for your poor decisions (I have no idea what those are BTW).   Perhaps you'll make better decisions in the future and not place yourself in such compromising positions </sarcasm> Roll Eyes

Sounds like he wasn't actually trying to kill ya, just buzz ya.  Just some road rage that coulda gone terribly wrong, but didn't.  And who knows what set him off.  Sometimes drivers take offense to things that we don't think twice about, so it seems like the rage comes outta nowhere.  People often wonder what I'm such a rage about.  But it's hard to communicate with just a honk what is pissing you off if the other person doesn't know that they did something wrong.

Anyway, glad you're ok.

A BIG BIG +1

I see these asshole pickup truck drivers all the time, they cut me off when I drive my 4300 lb 4-door sedan. They try their hardest NOT to let me change lanes on the highway, and etc... So it is easy to see how they would react to a small 400 lb bike. The only thing to really combat these idiots is wait for gas prices to hit $5-$10/gal. 10 miles per gallon gets expensive quickly.
