Riding is a passion....not a commute.....

« on: June 10, 2011, 09:07:30 AM »

So as i read through the forums Ive noticed that a lot of guys seem to be in my area, i pass a lot of Ducati's on my weekend rides and we always exchange the courteous hand signal or head nod and go on about my way. I LOVE riding my bike and all the emotions that go with it....not to mention i like the brotherhood the a person unknowingly joins when he/she first turns that key and cracks open the throttle on their Ducati, i know you all know what i mean, and thats what brings us all together here on the boards, to get our riding fix during the work hours of the day when we would much rather be throwing our bikes through some twisties, or having a drink out at Neptune's watching the waves and bikes roll by. So i am looking for some fun laid back people that might want to form a little riding club in my area....nothing crazy...just a bunch of like minded non-competitive people that enjoy life and riding and would like some company on those journeys no age is to young nor to old!....If we get enough people and enough interest then maybe we can come up with some name for the club or something....so just let me know if any of you guys would be interested!!!  Dolph

Its all about making new friends, and lasting memories!!  Grin

I think it's an official Ducati club.

http://www.socaldmc.com/

They sometimes setup rides and have a weekly pub meeting on Wed in Santa Monica:

Sorry, but SOCALDMC is a bit of a joke.  I joined and never heard of a ride other than the annual Turkey Day.

You'll get much more activity out of the Socal group here on the forum, though probably no more than a dozen of that group actually ever go on rides  laughingdp

Just noticed that you are in TO!!  Bacon Junkie is in Moorpark, I'm in Santa Paula.

well we should get together some weekend and go for a ride....
I signed up to join the socalDMC just because it looks like it could be fun if people actually would ride....
But sense were so close to each other we should definately get together... where do you guys usually go? Im ashamed to say that im a snake junkie myself...there is just something about that strip of road that makes me want to come back for more....and actually i have 3 buddies that ride GSXR's that ride with me alot and they ride through the last sweeper together and there is always a photographer there that takes pictures....it would be sick to get three monsters coming through the turn together....but anyways...i frequent the snake...PCH....just those canyon roads around this area...

Post up a ride in the Socal board and see who shows up.

The snake is a fun road for sure - I was just there a few weeks ago.

We tend to ride 150 and 33 a lot.  Tend to avoid the Snake on weekends,  unless we want our picture taken  laughingdp

I was looking at the map down around the snake and it looks like there are a lot more windy canyon roads down around that area like Latigo canyon rd.  i think i might check that one out this weekend....its like 10 miles of windy canyon that is on the list of best SoCal motorcycle roads....i guess its decently technical....so im looking forward to it. If any of you guys were interested on riding this weekend then let me know  waytogo ill let you guys know for sure when im going to try out these new canyons....if you guys are interested in an adventure exploring some of these then i would be more then happy to have company!  chug

Try Decker if you like technical - a lot less drive ways then Latigo.

Roll Eyes i enjoy it but its not an extremely long run....but i just made up a map of what i think im going to do this weekend....starting from westlake blvd going down decker then onto ecinal canyon towards the snake....then instead of going down the snake hanging a right going down latigo canyon road to the PCH, riding the PCH south to tuna canyon rd...then all the way up tuna canyon where you get on old topanga canyon road...which is windy taking you back to mulhulland which i will take all the way back finally going back up the snake and ending at the lookout! 75miles round trip! but it incorporates 3 of the highest rated motorcycle roads in southern california! could be pretty epic! if anyone wants to join let me know!  Grin

This is the route!
