Is it just me or do others see the shift back to 1000cc bikes as a pathetic effort to fill the grid? I like MotoGP (not nearly as much as WSBK) but I just don't see happy days in the future. The world economy is still pretty much in the dumpster, the factories can't be happy with their economic situation (anyone see Suzuki on the grid in 2012??) and what can DORNA do to fill the grid? Hold a gun to the head of Kawasaki and make them field a team?? bang head Someday somewhere someone has to ask: who cares about a Honda, Yamaha and sorta a Ducati race series? Just saying... I have the same thought. Plus there's an elephant in the room: when Rossi retires, how much of the series' audience will go?

I do see big trouble too with the grid and GP.  After watching the Silverstone moto2 race, I was seriously thinking - just drop the GP class, make moto2 where it is at for the prestige level.  If it takes a standard engine package to do it, so be it.  It was great watching Smith come from starting 28th to finishing 2nd - unbelievable.

Glad to see I didn't get the shit kicked out of me for that post. Shocked I have thought that for awhile and I see that some of you have had the same thoughts. Yeah sure, I love WSBK but I also love MotoGP and worry about it's future. Like F1, it's expenses are through the roof compared to WSBK... or I assume they are. I'd love to see a comparison of MotoGP viewers/fans vs WSBK. Of course that's what prospective sponsors would be looking at too. I have no idea, but I hope the new displacement rules will have a positive effect on MotoGP. But it's hard to turn back the hands of time to 2006! waytogo Dolph chug

Here's the thing -- imagine what Colin is like drunk.  Or what he's going to be like when he old and has dementia?  It'll be even more awesomerest.

Here's my off-the-top-of-my-head formula:  go to 1000cc, ditch the Bridgestone tires for something else--anything else, and get rid of the fuel limit.  Moto2-esque spec engines would make it even better.  Hell, make it a CRT-only series and that'd be a blast as well.

Sounds like I need to start watching Moto2. . .

Hellz yeah.  It's amazing week in and week out.  And if you're not watching AMA Daytona Sportbike (the 600s), you're missing out sumptin' fierce as well.  You can skip the superbike, cuz while it's good, DSB is just awesome.

Colin Edwards on stage at Silverstone 2011

Wow - he went everywhere with that.  Like someone else said, who else could say those things and get away with it.   waytogo

Edwards can be Edwards as long as he's (almost  Grin) always finishing races down around the middle of the pack.

No one takes him seriously as a week-in-week-out podium contender, so he gets away with playing the entertainer.

Would be different if he were an alien...(now that's an image)

Hell yes it is! I just watched the recording of last Sunday's race. Woo Hoo! Makes me want to go out and get a 600. Wait a sec, I already have an 848.  Grin

Q: You said that (wife) Alyssia maybe looked at you a little differently after Silverstone. Do you think that's possibly related to her seeing your YouTube performance with Julian (Ryder) from the stage at Silverstone?

EDWARDS: Yeah, she didn't like that too much, either. I had to basically explain the fact that: "Honey, I'm a comedian. I was just looking for a laugh, if you know what I'm saying. I had no aspirations to do anything I was saying. It was just cracking a joke." She knows I'm a ding-dong sometimes and say stupid shit. She knows me (Laughter).

So Edward's wife doesn't have the humor gene in her DNA either. He and I have more in common than I thought! laughingdp

Try not to marry a girl without a humor gene  Roll Eyes...it leads to this while you're trying to keep her happy..  bow down

then this when you realize nothing you do will make her understand your style  bang head

and this when you just don't care anymore... coffee

Sometimes it'll then degrade to this when you think the grass is greener...  Evil

But...if you suffer it out, that's when things actually start to get interesting, like this    Kiss
