Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a used '07 S2R and noticed that there are marks inside the gauge cluster. The mark looks like a smudge of some sort on the inside part of the plastic window, as if someone touched the inside of the cluster. So my question, is this a common thing? Maybe the ducati worker was not wearing gloves? Or am I the victim of odometer tampering? The bike has sub-2,000 miles on the odo and looks like running the original tires - BT-014 manufactured in 2006.

Given that the cluster is all electronic, I don't think taking it apart would help with tampering.  I've seen smudges on a few too - I suspect that they aren't all that careful in the duc factory.  Probably a few too many of these  drink before work  laughingdp

I know you're partly kidding, but don't be so quick to blame Ducati. They assemble the bikes, they don't manufacture the parts. The gauge faces would not be open to the Ducati factory workers. Blame Magnetti Morelli or whover made the instrument cluster!

That's it!  I just didn't see the  Vino! icon the first time (maybe I haven't had enough  coffee today).

Btw, for an awesome behind-the-scenes look at Ducati read Fast Company by David Gross if you haven't already - its a unique and fun read.

Very true about Magnetti Morelli, sill  Vino! Italians though Smiley

if you bought it used, there's a good chance the prior owner had the clocks apart. Doesn't mean it was tampered with, though. the clock faces are prone to cracking so he might have just replaced the cover (or the dealer did).  you can easily remove the cover to clean the inside of the lens without disturbing anything else. search the forum for removing the cluster lens.
