Another Goldline Brake Upgrade Question

So it seems like the retail price on the kit has gone up considerably in the last few years. When I dug up threads from 05-06, it seems that you could've purchased the kit for a little over $500, but now I see the price is approx $725 before shipping.

So am I better off purchasing the whole kit OR sourcing the bare essentials (used) off a S2R 1000, which I believe are just the calipers, pads, rotors and lines for around $400? The only thing I'm having trouble finding are the master cylinders... also will my coffin style reservoirs work with this upgrade?

This is going on an 06 S2R 800... thanks in advance

The coffins will work. I did the same, sourcing the pieces on my own, and retained the stock master on my 620. 
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

Thanks guys, that really clears things up. The make/break factor to my decion was the need to purchase new cylinders/reservoirs/levers but this makes my decision much easier. So just to recap, calipers, rotors and pads are a must. New lines will make my life easier due to different mounting style, but nothing else needed?

i am pretty sure the hoses have to be replaced as the 2-pad goldlines have a different angle banjo

when you say hoses, you mean brake lines right?

LOL no which is why I was confused. I had used the term "lines" in my prev post but when you responded with hoses, thought you were referring to something in addition. Thanks again...

lol, what do you think i layer with on chilly days?

any recommendation on good street pads?

depends on what rotors you are getting, but if you are getting the straight up stainless type, i used HH sintered

Good stuff, yea I'm keeping the stock S2R rotors that are coming with the calipers. Who knows, I may use the pads that come with it now in the meantime and upgrade rotors/pads together after they wear down. At least on my car, I do rotors/pads together...

You won't be sorry - it's a huge improvement [thumbsup]

+ 1 on sintered pads.

You WILL need special lines/hoses for this calipers/master combo.
16mm master instead of stock 15mm works a little better, but isn't absolutely required. ~$ 120 from Yoyodyne, who also can make correct lines for the same amount. (The kit came with the 16mm master)

That's ONLY if I choose to upgrade the master cylinders? But if I keep my stock 15mm coffins, those should work fine with the lines/calipers I got off together from the S2R 1000, correct?

The banjo fitting (end of the lines) angles are different at the caliper - so different that they don't fit.
The custom lines must fit a coffin master AND Goldline 4 piston 2 pads calipers.
