The banjo fitting (end of the lines) angles are different at the caliper - so different that they don't fit.
The custom lines must fit a coffin master AND Goldline 4 piston 2 pads calipers.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to start the install the second all the parts arrived. But I guess this makes sense b/c I remember reading how if you were going to use stock lines, you should pull ones from say a m900 which had the goldline brakes (and the coffin masters) as opposed to the pee cups off the S2R 1000 I'm using.

I'll look into Spielger's custom lines... would you happen to know the length I'll need?

I think Yoyodyne use Spiegler, but I'm not sure.
The type they use has the rotating fittings, which make things a little easier.

Anyway - they'll know the length.

I replaced the stock 2 pot calipers and 300mm rotors on my 695 with 320mm rotors and 4 pot goldlines when I did my suspension.  I also swapped the master cylinder for a 16mm coffin.  The kit I bought included rotors, calipers, lines, and master.

I've heard the brakes feel spongy if you keep the 15mm master.  With the 16mm master they're wonderful.  Really strong and progressive.  Totally confidence inspiring.

What's weird to me is that I understand the need for new lines because of the way the banjos connect differently to the caliper, but I figured the m/c connectors would not make a difference which is why I thought I could get away with the S2R 1000 lines. Unless the diameter of the banjos are different, whether it's angled or straight on the m/c side, it would appear that it should connect regardless?

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not opposed to switching to the 16mm coffin. If anything I heard there wasn't much difference bet 15 and 16mm, but if I could find a set for cheap, I'd definitely switch over. When you upgraded to 16mm coffins, where did you source your lines?

My coffin masters and pee cup masters connect the same way, not sure what that's about.

the difference is in the way the calipers connect.  i would have used the same hose but for that.  in fact, i connected the stock hose to the pee cup master before i put the calipers on to check clearances and length needed.

That's what I was thinking as well, which is why I would imagine the S2R 1000 lines I'm getting with calipers should work fine (will fit calipers duh! but as well as the coffins). Before I start ordering stuff I don't need, I'll just wait for everything to arrive. I'll take a look and see if it connects to my 15mm coffins, and if so great. If not, I'll look at custom lines or perhaps a set from an older monster that used the 4pot 2 pad calipers and coffin style masters.

Stupid question, but say I upgraded to 16mm coffins, suffice to say my current aftermarket "shorty" levers for my S2R 800 would not work on the brake side? And if I wanted a matching lever set, I'd either have to throw my stock clutch lever back on (and use a stock brake lever off a 16mm coffin)?

Ok - the 800 fitting is 90 degrees at the master - the 1000 fitting is almost straight.

The two master types seem to have similar mounting angles/positions, so it's strange why 800 line fittings are angled like they are. (routing?)

That means that you MIGHT be able to use the 1000 lines on the 800/coffin master. (length and routing?)

Sorry that I was so sure in my previous post.

The 15 and 16mm coffins are identical - same levers waytogo

My lines came with the kit.  They're angled about 45 degrees, as shown:

All coffin levers are interchangeable, so if you upgrade your 15mm reservoir to 16mm, you can still use your old levers.

For reference, here's what the bottom end looks like:

Gotcha, I just thought they were different because I remember when I ordered the levers I had to confirm the pivot bolt size (12 vs 8mm), and I recall the S2R 800 and 695 were different from the the other Monsters 2003 to current...

Sorry I get tired of seeing shameless self plugs that add no value other than the purpose of adding to one's own post count or showing off something that nobody asked for. That or I'm just getting too old for forums, lol.

Now back on topic!

Just go baller status and get the Brembo RCS Master cylinder.  This is the route I am going with my 06 S4R and Aprilia Dorsoduro this winter.
