If you're test riding it one dead giveaway should be an ABS light that comes on for a self-check and usually stays on until the bike moves and the system initializes. That's how it works on our 696, and how it worked on my old oilhead back in the 90s.
Another way is to go real fast and then stand on the brakes to see what happens.
