Looking at a 620
«

I'm shopping for a monster and found one on eBay close by its a 2003 620. It has 20k miles and from the photos looks to be in good shape. The bad is the fuel sending unit is bad and the low fuel light stays on. Also it has no red key. I talked the guy down to $2800. Does this sound like a good deal?

IMO no. You can buy one with half the miles for slightly more. I wouldn't go more than $2k if it were me. Is there any service history with proof? The fuel light sending unit, if it's the same as on my 900 will cost you $200 to $300. I just ignore the thing and it doesn't act up every time either. As for the red key, my 900 came without one too and it will set you back around $350 to get that taken care of by someone like SOS diagnostics. Just as an example, I paid $2300 for my M900 with less than 4,000 miles.

I would be worried or wonder if its not the sending unit but rather the gauges shorting out from getting water in them. That is what is going on with mine at the moment. I had to get the ecu reflashed because the immobilerize was also affected and the bike wouldn't start all the time.
I have 35k on my 620, and I keep it because I probably would get peanuts for it if I tried to sell it. Like said above there are lots of better deals out there for low mileage 620's.

This is definitely a sub $2000 bike. I purchased an 03 620 with 4000 miles in absolute showroom condition, all maintenance, all paperwork, red key, paddock stand, cover, full tank of gas, almost 3 years ago for $4200 (probably overpaid by a couple hundred, but it was a "no worries" deal.) Yup, look around, you could do a lot better.

I know I could get the service records the guy told me the name of the dealer he bought it from and where its been serviced its entire life.
Might try to get him closer to 2k if not ill walk.
So to program the red key out I will just lose the security feature right?
Thanks guys.

I'm selling my '05 620. It's in excellent condition, low miles, complete service records, new belts, newish Michelin PR2s, garage kept, 2 black/1 red key, etc. It's not $2k but it's definitely a 'no worries' deal. No work or maintenance needed for another 5k miles or so.

Dont buy a mystery machine. Especially a Monster. I got a "cherry" 2001 M750 with 5300miles on the clock, last year, for $3000. Adult owned and maintained, full maintenance records and all original paperwork. I would have easily paid him hundreds more just for that extra piece of mind that the bike was taken care of.
BE PATIENT!

$5k seems pricey for ANY 620.
I bought my '03 620 in perfect shape about a year and a half ago for $3900. It had about 4500 miles on it. I felt like I overpaid by a few hundred dollars at least.

hmm, $7 and a handful of lint? It'd make a great pit bike
or you could just give it a little time and let Tha Bone have it as a first bike!
OP, I agree that's too high. Keep in mind that it's July as well, so all used vehicles are overpriced right now. Be patient and the right bike will come along. This is coming from a guy who has 4 Ducs right now, all of them purchased used.

True. I just lowered the price a little. But you have to consider... 6000 mile service completed, new tires, only pure gas in the tank, all service records.
When you realize that you ride this bike another several thousand miles without doing anything to it you see that it's worth a fair price. The old saying is true... You can pay me now or pay me later.

you're absolutely right, but unfortunately most people don't look at it that way. especially the type of young guy that's going to be looking for a 620.

I just added new, high quality pictures. Nicest 620 you'll find anywhere... I'm not thinking I'm crazy for selling it. Maybe I'll keep it...
