So who wants to go to the range some time to get our firearm on? The options are Wednesday through Sunday until 5pm at the outdoor ABQ shooting range park near Double Eagle Airport, and at Caliber's, which is an indoor range until 8pm.

Damn it! I miss living in NZ where guns are easy and legal to go out and have some fun with. Here in Aus land Police doesn't take kindly to it! Maybe I should join a rifle club  Undecided

Half off range fees at Caliber's starts at 5pm every Monday. Who would like to get some shooting in on a Monday? Pretty much the range fee at half off is 10 dollars, a handgun rental if you don't have one is another 10 dollars, or 20 dollars for a semi-automatic rifle, or 30 dollars for an automatic Uzi or Mac-10. You can buy ammo there, but it's expensive, and if you rent their guns you have to buy their ammo. Also, they only allow brass on the range, so no steel casings.

So, I'm going to the range in westside, by Double Eagle Airport on Saturday at 1:30. The weather is supposed to be pretty warm, so should be about 60 degrees around then. Not too bad!

I might join you. I just reloaded a bunch of 357 SIG, .38 special, and .270 Win.

Edit: just added some .40 S&W to the pile.

I have second thoughts about reloading .40 S&W. Especially with the KBs you can get by shooting reloads out of the Glock 22.

I'm only bringing my Glock, bring whatever you want, you can even shoot muzzleloaders at the range.

It's all in how you load it. I think some are trying to push the envelope with .40, but Glocks are made to pretty specific tolerances. No such thing as a +P load for .40, so if you push higher pressures you're in uncharted territory. Regardless, any gun will explode if you put too much powder behind too big of a bullet.

The loads I just made for .40 are 5.4 grains (+/- 0.1 grains) of HP38 behind 155 grain Speer TMJ/FP bullets... not a real heavy load - mid-range pressures. I'll be using a Glock 23. For the 357 SIG I'll use the same gun with a Lone Wolf 357 SIG barrel.

And Karl, yes I'll be bringing a rifle.

I've been really lagging getting a 357 barrel for my Glock 22. I've wanted to do it for a long time. Anyways, I thought it wasn't just a problem with Glocks, reusing brass in .40 S&W means its going to be slightly weakened, especially around the back end, where because of the size of the cartridge, is usually unsupported because the way the loading ramp has to be.
