I don't think this will really accomplish anything positive. Other than making the mechanics work harder and quicker to repair a damaged bike during FP or Superpole. I could see MotoGP doing this as a knee jerk reaction to the world economy in the toilet and hoping to keep more than 10 bikes on their grid. Same thing regarding their 6 motor per season rule. But I have never read anything that would have me believe WSBK teams were so financially strapped that they would want to have only one bike and no spare. I also didn't know the Supersport class already had that rule. Why in Supersport? You'd think they would have made that rule apply to WSS and WSBK if they were going to do it at all. Huh?

They did the same thing in F1 and it sucks there as well. Basically it means you're screwed if you crash the bike heavily in practice, because it takes so much time to repair that you lose out on all your practice time. The teams will still have a spare bike, it just won't be assembled and it just puts more work onto the mechanics.
This also sucks for sponsors and fans becuuse if the bike is wrecked and being repaired, the the rider and spare nike are not on the track, so the fans that showed up for practice lose out, as do the sponsors on the exposure.
As in F1, if you really want to save the teams money then quit changing the engine and other specs every couple of years. Everytime this happens the teams spend vast amounts of money. A little common sense would go a long way.

There goes someone mentioning that dreaded "common sense" thing again! laughingdp Last I checked there is a world wide shortage of common sense... apparently more rare than kryptonite. cheeky
