Ready to ride

« on: June 17, 2008, 07:15:19 PM »

I have a magnetic tank bag that is convenient for my phone, GPS, and wallet. As I was riding around I started wondering if it's a bad idea to have my phone (iPhone) in the tank bag. Anyone know if the magnets could cause problems for the cell phone? What about the GPS? I haven't had any problems yet. I know that magnet are not good near computers or TVs.

With my Tank bag I got a couple old hard drives and put them in the bag right over the magnets.

I even went out of the way to rub them against the magnets.

I kept them in the bag for several days and the hard drives worked perfectly after. No data loss.

I always keep my phone in my jacket. That way if I'm all alone and get seperated from my bike and can't make it back to it I can make a call for help.

Phone and form of ID on your person is a pretty good idea, its how I roll anyway.

I can't fathom the thought of getting in a wreck and then having to search for my tankbag to call for assistance.
