Thats the nice thing about a bike mod it as you see fit and F*CK em if they don't like it.

Personally I'm not a huge fan though you guys pulled off a pretty clean install.

I've got a spare electrical lead, now that i've disconnected my license plate light.

I've often wondered what it would look like to have an LED shining down onto the road from under the engine block - like your bike is hovering on the light...

I might put a single LED on my bike... try and incorporate so that it looks like it is supposed to be there. Cheesy

One spot I want to put LEDs is somewhere near the license plate, aimed at the rear shock assembly.  Your lead would be perfect for that.

Took a while to hide them all, took me about a day to install and set up
The List of Products from CustomDynamics.com range
4 x 9 LED Stingerz Mounted to Air box and underside of Fuel Tank
4 x 9 LED Stingerz Mounted to sides of Rear frame
1 x 3 LED Stingerz Mounted to Emissions Equipment to Highlight rear Suspension
1 x 3 LED Stingerz Mounted to Left Rear side of Frame to light up SSS
1 x 3 LED Stingerz Mounted to Trellis to highlight L twin (Rear of Engine)
1 x 3 LED Stingerz Mounted to Trellis to highlight L twin (Front of Engine)
2 x 3 LED Stingerz Mounted to Headstock/Trellis to light Trellis in front of Airbox
2 x Micro Magic LED's attached to rear of Instruments to Light up Bikini Fairing
Water proof switch mounted at rear so I can have the lights on without the Keys on and also turn them off if  Police comes along.

Those stingers look good!  Did you get one of the kits, or assemble your own?

Those stingers look like they are a bit faster to install (and a much cleaner install, too) than the kit I used.  It also looks like they take up a lot less space than my kit too (taking into account the space used by my tap-splice connectors.)  There is definitely more light output, but considering I only have 8 LED's total lit up right now, I'm not doing too bad.  :p

I too have a switch so I can turn them on/off regardless of what the bike is doing: this is a must-have IMO.

G'day TrenchDigger

I bought the Sports bike Kit then added bits and pieces to suit what I needed, SO I added a couple more 3 LED Stingerz and the Micro LEDs

The switch is a very important legal requirement over here in Australia, The Local  Police Get a bit pissy if you cruise around with any decorative lighting on that are class as "Emergency service colours" So red and blue.
And it's handy to be able to switch it on for display without having the key in the bike.

But I still cuise around with it on every now and then  cheeky

But it is one of those Mods that people either love or hate.  Grin

I think they look Great, like the bike just rode out of hell  Evil

It is also a good way for people to see you at night.  Heck it is a struggle to get them to see you during the daylight hours, so I'm all for this mod.  I would do it to my bikes, but I never plan to ride at night.

Did this myself a few months ago, I put a topic in the OZ Monsters area, But I love the look.
But rather than high lighting Chrome like they do on HD's and the like I concentrated on high lighting the Technical parts of the Ducati, The Trellis frame, SSS and the Engine.

It what I call Wank factor, doesn't serve any useful purpose, Just makes' you feel good  cheeky

what did you attach them with?  zip ties?  velcro?  double stick tape?

The Stingerz come fitted with Double sided tape, I used the tape in every situation, but backed this up with Zip ties to be safe, The kit comes with a 3M product that you wipe on the surface to make the Double sided tape work even better, I used that on the fuel tank underside and the Airbox (Can't use Zip ties there!)

The slow part is running the wires and setting it up to look OEM.

it's legal in california as long as the lights themselves aren't visible to the front.  Can only have white or amber to the front, red or amber to the rear.

If just the glow is visible, that's OK.

We have some pretty strict laws about vehicle modification, I can't imagine it's any more so in australia.

I think a lot depends on the attitude of the Cop you talk to at the time, Also there are some pretty tight laws regarding emergency service colours Red and Blue when it comes to lighting. (Here in Australia)

The Cop I spoke to once advised me that if the lighting was not ADR certified (Aust design rules) then it was not legal, But then another I spoke to at a show was different again, He said the same about not being able to see the light directly, only the glow and they could not flash. They both agreed if I was parked then I could use them all I wanted, just riding could be the issue.

So who do you listen to?

I haven't been pinged yet, But I don't have them on all the time when riding at night, So I'll keep using them until I get told otherwise

I would ride with them on until you get pulled over for it. If they give you a ticket, go to court and tell the judge (magistrate, whatever) that you are trying to make yourself more visible and the lights don't flash so as not to be confused with a LEO.

They look great. Much more visible at night. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with the look. But if you lower it and use shag rug for the seatcover we have problems.

Dangit!  The shag seat cover is coming soon, and the low rider hydraulics are going on tomorrow!  laughingdp
