Most good decals are vinyl. I don't see a problem. I'm about to cover my 78 Trans Am with all of the "over the top" 70's graphics and they are all vinyl.

Vinyl is fine.

If you are putting them over the clear there is no issue whatsoever. I have only had two instances where ink bled from printed vinyl decals when clearing.

although you need to be careful

experience in the past of a sheet of ducati stickers i got from my dealer didnt take kindly to clearcoat , the clear crazed badly

but decent quality vinyl decals shouldnt have any dramas

i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

I have been using these guys for years. I had a bad batch of Agusta decals come in from Europe once and SRS remade them in an infinitely superior quality. The Ducati decals I have received from these guys are better quality than the factory stuff I got from the dealer. I have used them both over and under clear coat with no issues. In my opinion there is no better out there.

The quality and life is dependent on what type of vinyl they're using. Make sure you're using a CAST vinyl product for decals that will last. Vinyl is made two ways.

Cast vinyl is poured into a thin sheet, so it is created at its final thickness. The vinyl will last around 7 years continuously outdoors without a clearcoat. Some brands will tell you they'll last longer but that's just warranty gambling. Taken care of or with a clear you'll get a very long life out of them.

Calendared vinyl is pounded flat from vinyl balls essentially, so it has a tendency to try and return to that shape, causing it to shrink and lift over time. IT will also get brittle and crack eventually. This is made for short term signage and low cost applications. You'll get three years out of a "premium calendared" or about a year out of promo grade.
