OK as the title says... what is my bike. the title says M750D, but it has some stuff i can't identify. It has red brake calipers and i can't find another bike with the red ones. The red is the original coating too. I am just totally lost on what the bike is.. All i know is its a 2002. sorry for being a noob. This is my first bike, that isn't a jap bike or harley. Im posting a pic to get some help and I'll post a bonus pic of a few other toys. thanks guys. if i need to post more pics of the bike let me know. I bought the bike over a year ago, but finally got it ready to ride. I honestly just want to know some details on it. I tried to research, if it was a dark, but the tanks are silver ( possible repaint), and the brakes are red.

Do the calipers have covers? I've seen red covers (what purpose they serve, I don't know), but not the caliper it's self on a Ducati. Maybe older SS or STs? The tank looks painted and not have the "Ducati" is almost a give away, but not 100%. Does the sticker on the frame give anymore info ie M750D. I thought the frames were silver for this year as well. I'm curious what kind of exhaust it is too.
Welcome though, feel free to post in your local board-maybe someone can stop by and take a look.

I have tried to reach out to some locals, but Ducati isn't real big here. I have never seen one, and thats kind of why i bought it. I did hear that because the frame is black then maybe something is up. The exhaust isn't on the bike anymore. It was cracked, so i put stock back on recently.
The calipers are what are throwing me off. I was thinking it might have been aftermarket, but they are still factory size. I know these aren't painted or anything also, the finish is solid and its all over the caliper. I would say possibly powder coated red, but the brembo emblem isn't a sticker. I will have to check the sticker on the frame for some info. I have looked at it before and it doesn't say much. i know that under the sticker is black because i peeled up a little bit to see under for evidence of a frame being painted.
if anyone has any ideas don't be afraid to post. it could get me in the right direction.

the brembo logo is useually a machined portion, I think you have the stock 4 piston 2 pad brembos that have been painted red. not the kind of thing you see all the time. 2002 750 should be fuel injected, D (possibly) indicating "dark", the less expensive version. your tank/cowl is not a ducati silver. and it looks like the lip on the rims has been polished?
probably just the previous owner wanting it a bit personalized but I would call your local shops and try to find a service history. if for nothing else then to see what maintenance your bike has had (disregarding mileage, your bike should be on its 4th set of belts by now by age alone).

Your bike is a Dark that has been repainted. The calipers are "parts bin" generic calipers that appear on many bikes. They are "Gold Line" but Brembo will use whatever color a manufacturer wants, though I suspect yours have been either painted or powder coated red. Not sure about the black frame.

You'd be suprised where DUC owners are, just on this forum there's riders from Thailand to France to Kuwait with a few in between. Sometimes they might be low key though.

If the title says M750D then it probably is.
2002 was the first year for adjustable link suspension, previous years came with a 'hoop' style suspension.
The calipers are most likely aftermarket, or powder coated, as Ducati never used red calipers stock (that I recall).
The tank is most certainly repainted. There is no Ducati decal and the 'dark' model came with a matte black tank.
Also, IIRC, the only model that came with a silver frame as a 'dark' was the 620. Both the 750 and 900 had black frames. Usually dark denotes a lower spec model. The '02 750"S" had a Senna color scheme and an aluminum swingarm.
**Disclaimer**
Most of this is probably wrong

not certain but those look like those taiwan made Brembo-knockoff calipers.
IIRC the dark also did not come with a seat cowl
here's some info on the 2002 750 with a small section on the dark.

Your bike is a Dark that has been repainted.
+1
most likely added the seat cowl and match painted, along with the front/rear red calipers (fronts def. look like 4 pot OE brembo that were re-painted/coated). that and it's now got double front rotors... CF front fender, looks like the bars might be different/lower?, barend mirrors, and those cans look like they might be the old DP/Remus low mounts

Yep, dual rotors were standard on the 750 as of 2001

DARKS
. otherwise, Falloon is wrong, then?
Quote from: Ian Falloon, Standard Catalog of Ducati Motorcycles 1946-2005, pg.199
... a redesigned 750 Monster (the 750 I.E.) appeared for 2002, similar to the 620 I.E. Along with electronic fuel injection, the motor shared the other updates of the two-valve engine this year, and the chassis was the S4 type with a Marzocchi front fork. There was also a 750S I.E. for the U.S., based on the 620S I.E., with an aluminum swingarm, higher seat, and headlight fairing. The 750 I.E. Dark continued with only a single front brake disc.

from Ducati, no single disc
interestingly, Dark had 14l tank instead of 15l

lol. ain't that some shit?
just for the sake of argument at this point, here's the spec on my last bike...
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/monster/620/2005/tech_spec.do
it clearly states 2x300mm, 2-piston calipers.
I had 4-piston goldlines on my bike (and the steel tank... iirc, build date 10/4, but MY05)
