but you had 2x 300 just with the 4 piston.
i've heard they switch stuff up midyear build, but just component type stuff, ie brake caliper/tanks.

just pointing out that ducati's printed specs on the website can't necessarily be taken as the infallible word of god
like I said, it was purely
for the sake of argument.

lol. ain't that some shit?
just for the sake of argument at this point, here's the spec on my last bike...
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/monster/620/2005/tech_spec.do
it clearly states 2x300mm, 2-piston calipers.
I had 4-piston goldlines on my bike (and the steel tank... iirc, build date 10/4, but MY05)
And here's the spec list for your real model bike as per build date...
http://www.ducati.com/bikes/monster/620/2004/tech_spec.do
Note the 4 piston goldlines and 15L steel tank.
Just because your bike was released as an '05 it was built in '04. Ducati would use the rest of the previous years parts before making the change, in most cases anyway. Hence the Monster being called the 'parts bin' bike.

yeah it's a wierd thing that we do in the states that throws wrenches into charts like that
ie a car built in oct 2004 in germany would be registered as a 2004... but in the states as a 2005

Yep. New model year in September or October US, then in December or January we see changes in the vehicle. No one wants to buy a 2004 BMW when the 2005 Buicks are on the dealer floor.

This has confused many people. Duacti made a few versions of the 620. There was a dark with a 5-speed transmission and a single from caliper (Monodisco). At the same time there was a 6-speed dark with two calipers (Duodisco) and they were available at the same time.
And of course, they changed from the steel tanks to plastic right around the same time. You can find 2005 620s with steel tanks, 320mm rotors and 4 piston calipers. You can also find 2005 620s with a plastic tank, 300mm rotors and the 2 piston calipers.
Good times.
As noted, your bike appears to be a 750 Dark with some cosmetic work. I'd wager that if you took a magnet to the tank, you'd find a section towards the front where the magnet won't stick as well. That's the classic 'ducati ding' that happens when a monster is tipped over and the bars dent the tank.
Calipers are the normal sort, aside from the red. Just looks like they got coated. The previous owner also had the coating machined off the lip of the wheels. So they have spent some time on cosmetics.

DARKS
. otherwise, Falloon is wrong, then?
:edit: for typos in quote
The 02 750 DARK did come with two 320mm rotors. Only the 620 had the single rotor on the DARK.

what you have there? is one gorgeous bike. Goood damn clean, and real nice aesthetic improvements. I never liked the polished lip, but strangely enough on your bike? looks awesome.
