I'm for it.  If we had one I would have posted my never ending Desmo pregnant dog project.

DP it is time to yield to the will of the people (members).
We have just shy of 9000 members...albeit not all active.

When you get somewhere north of .15% ( don't ignore the decimal ) thinking it's a great idea it might be considered the 'will of the people'.

Until then it's just more work the way I see it.

So I take that is a no?

Thanks for the understanding/ clear explanation for why it can't be done (and the dozens of other categories can)....  Roll Eyes

So what category would you suggest I host a poll for such a change so we can see about generating that .15%?

I would hate to put it in the wrong category and have it moved somewhere no one looks....

A few points I'd like to make:

1) I'm in favor of this idea.

2) Sarcasm is not the way to win the mods (who in my experience are all really cool people) to your side.

3) You should put the poll in the "General Monster Forum" section, let people have two votes, and make "boobies" an option. The other two options should be "Yes, I want to see a 'Builds' category" and "No, I think the board is fine the way it is."

If I meant it as no, I would have said no. Roll your eyes at me again and it will be no. Kiss [sometimes I wish I could say exactly what I thought]

Start your poll wherever your little sensitive heart desires. When you get 200 responses let me know. The 11 or 12 people that posted in your thread don't justify starting a new board.

I moved this here because that's where it belongs...just like I'll have to move hundreds of 'build' threads because someone changed their exhaust or bolted on thousands of dollars in accessories.

If I wanted no-one to see it I would not have posted the redirect.

I don't appreciate your attitude.

DP I think you have gone too far here and need to cool it.  This a forum that belongs to the members.  We need mods not autocrats.

Sigh. Well there goes that.

Everybody relax, doesn't solve a thing to get huffy. If I wanted infighting I'd invite my family over for Thanksgiving dinner.

Make a poll. Mods, set a number that if hit the forum will be created. I ask you please keep it reasonable, based on active members, not total accounts. Or don't - I'll be fine either way. At the risk of being reasonable, I think that's a solid plan, but you guys actually own the site and have the final call.

And yes, Boobies has to be an option, even if counterproductive to getting the numbers needed.

I apologize for the attitude DucPainter- that was uncalled for.

Although I have never ran a forum before, I can understand that managing one this large can be stressful/annoying at times.

Your posts sometimes come off (my opinion) as indifferent or iron-fisted.  I was just offering a suggestion I think will offer an improved experience for the members here- certainly if there is a huge effort in doing that then it isn't viable.  Obviously the intent wasn't to create problems.  I will post a poll in the General section- thank you for the feedback.

No, it belongs to the mods, or at least a few of them.  It really does, I think they even have receipts for it.

I honestly don't mean to come off as iron fisted. When I posted originally about being able to tell who was building it was a reference to the limited numbers of people actually 'building' anything. There remains the question of exactly what constitutes a build. I don't think even the interested parties in this thread agree on that. Do we want a board with 3 or 4 threads per year? Is it warranted, or is it like this board...no one even pays attention. When I said get a couple hundred responses to the poll I was serious. That would show there was sufficient interest to even consider it.

It's not a huge effort to build a board. From experience it will be a fair amount of work to manage it. I don't think people realize how much time it takes.

I am, and will continue to be, direct. I don't have the patience or the time to pull punches. Plus I'm like the guy that got fired yesterday...for being cantankerous and abrasive.

Carry on.

I'm a member too Bill, and I don't change everything to suit me and the wife. We've had a formula for success for three and a half years and the history of TOB before that and 12 people do not constitute a large enough percentage of the members to warrant changing things.

I was referring to your overly caustic attitude today.  I'm trying to bring you back to your more normal grouchy self.  I've been a member of this board since the beginning and the previous board since  2000 and I don't remember such harsh comments from you.

I really like the idea of a build board. I enjoy reading build threads, and hate having to look for anything more than two minutes.

That said, I could see how the vague line between "accessories/mods" and "builds" could turn into a big hassle for the moderators.

So I guess what I'm saying is "I really like the idea of a build board."

I'd be willing to be an admin for the build board.

The guidlines would simply be this.

If your engine and frame are separated, it qualifies.
