Rode the Muenster route today and I haven't seen the roads that good in years. Heavy oil field trucks have done a number on the tarmac. They must have brought in Arkansas road crews to do that good of a re-pave job!
The previous attempts at fixing the heavy truck damage sucked and never lasted very long. I was impressed at the work and smoothness of the roads.
Doc's was good as always and a couple of Harley riders played hooky from work and were enjoying lunch when I got there. Other than them the ride was bikeless. Looking forward to more cooler weather Muenster runs.
For the record, that was the first bike ride I have gone on since my Arkansas ride the first week of May. I can't remember the last June-August summer when I have never ridden a bike. It's been decades. It was just too damn hot this year. Ever since I got back from AR it seems like someone left the oven door open... for 3+ months! The older I get the more I don't like the heat. The wife and I keep talking about a home in the mountains of NM or CO. I'm sick of this shit!
Then again, I don't like snow and cold either.
