New Bike Question
«
on:
September 05, 2011, 08:35:48 AM »
Hi, i have been reading some post online that mention some customers receiving the plastic instrument panel cover in addition to the big plastic color cover with the screen when they buy there new ducati monster. I bought a 2012 Ducati Monster Evo and did not receive any. Is it true we are supposed to get that when purchasing the bike? I hate the front windshield thing and would like to put the smaller one.
Im talking about this one but in plastic:

thanks in advance

you should have gotten one when you bought the bike new. call your dealer up and ask them to give it to you.

In addition to bikini removal option, you should also get shorter bolts for rear cowl removal option.

On my June 2011 production 796 the cover and screws came in a plastic bag with the owners manual and keys, etc. Assume an 1100 evo is no different.
BTW, the headlight and bikini fairing combination do an amazing job of air management, so you might want to consider that. Ducati must have spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel. My other bare bike causes a roar in my helmet while the 796 is surprisingly quiet. Function rules in my book. Besides, my tinnitis gets worse daily as is...

Hmmm... Sounds like a real moron. Just checked my "plastic bag" and the cover comes with two black self-tapping screws and two unique plastc plug/washer thingies. No digicam handly. This stuff is in the crate with a new bike. Maybe you can stand there while he uncrates one?!

i dought it because they have no monster i dont think they will get any more any time soon. He just gave me the plastic cover. i guess the 2 screws are just to put that cover which i can buy in a hardware store. So is there anything else i should look for or ask him for?

Someone else may know better but you may need those quarter-sized moulded washers to plug holes as well. They are no standard hardware item. As for the screws, sure, you could duplicate them, but I'd not care to experiment and risk screwing into the instrument cluster with a screw which is too long. THAT could be ugly!
Since your dealer screwed up, (no pun), have the parts manager order a kit and take what you need from that. If they blank on that, find a decent dealer and order what you need?
Good Luck!

Since he said they don't have any Monsters and won't be getting any more in soon, it kind of sounds like this isn't an official Ducati dealer. Am I wrong, OP?
