Brett @ Glass from the Past is somehow in cahoots with the shop that built that 900; I know that he's responsible for the tail section & fairing, if the tank is indeed fiberglass, I'd wager he's the guy that built it.

Whether or not he'll sell you one is a different story entirely. http://caferacingparts.com/

based on the vent hump and hose, i'm pretty sure that's just a stock 900SS tank, at least in it's shape. might be an aftermarket fiberglass piece from glass from the past, but definitely stock shape.

Wait, what?

This is the bike/tank I was talking about:

They claim that the tank "is a collaboration of a 900SS tank and a late 80s 750 Sport."; WTF that means exactly, I dunno.  I saw the damn thing in person a few months back; now I wish I would've taken a closer look.

That's a stock 900ss tank. I have other pics of that bike.  I think they are saying it's a 900ss tank and a 750 Sport Nuovo frame?  I don't know..

I think the 80's part comes in the decal.

I like the bike (and I'm still mulling the idea of building something similar if I find a cheap enough SS at the right time) but other than changing the rear subframe, detabbing the stock fairing mounts and adding whatever's needed for the new fairing, there's not much work to do if you want a stock SS to look like it.

Allright knuckle heads.... to set things straight,
The tank on Mike Watanabe's white bike is only half of a 900SS and is a mix and match hybrid just like the description says.  The bottom section is from the original 900SS tank, but the top section is from a late 1980's 750 Sport. The two tanks were cut apart at the seams and rewelded to make an earlier style 750 Sport tank that would fit the later 900SS chassis.
I believe the tank on Walt Siegl's bike is his own design based on/reminisent of the early 1970's 750SS Imola tank.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Interesting.  And they weld a vent box on it to look like a post 92 900ss? It looks nothing like my 90 750 sport and everything like my 95 so tank.

Seems like an awful lot of work to achieve so little given its indistinguishable from a 93-98 SS tank.

Y'all can Google a 750 sport and see what I mean.  No vent box on the sport.

The tank is Walt's design as is the last Duc tank he did.

I like this one better.
