I was hoping someone could provide some insight regarding my S2R 800 modified exhaust.
First a little history:
I was tired of my S2R 800 sounding like a sewing machine so I installed a Marving mid-pipe and also cored the stock cans. (I found the chop / core tutorial on this website to be very helpful.) After I cored the stock cans, I had them powdercoated flat black. I also wrapped the Marving mid-pipe and "S" pipes in black Thermotec Heat Wrap. The final product looks very gritty and sounds very throaty.
I later came across (on Ebay) cross cut exhaust tips that would fit onto my stock "S" pipes, deleting the need for the stock cans. At this point, I would basically be running straight pipes. Would someone be able to provide me some insight as to what has to be performed to the motor to run a set up like this?
I will gladly post pictures if someone would let me know how. Thanks you for any assistanceyou can offer.

That is good advice. I figured the bike would be twice as loud with straight pipes. The guys I ride with have exhausts that are twice as loud as mine so by that math, I should blend with the pack.

Your bike is running lean (and hot) in stock form.
This will make it worse, but not much worse than what you already did.
It's when/if you also open the airbox that you need to add fuel by an ECU reflash and/or a Power Commander.
It's going to be very loud, but almost without the Ducati bass - I can't imagine anyone being happy with that noise level.
Of course, if the tips are cheap and can be fitted easily - go ahead and try

Thanks for the help.
I have no intention on opening the air box. Would I have to do an ECU re-flash with my current set up or if I completely eliminated the cored cans?
The cans are easily removed and the tips are just as easily installed.

You don't have to, but your engine will run better/smoother and not suffer the consequences of being too warm all the time.
It might not be catastrophical short term, but overheated heads aren't good long term.
This condition will be a little bit worse with the tips instead of the cored cans.
You can get a general idea of how things are working if you check (show us?) the color of the headers and pull the plugs to see how they are looking - any lighter than chocolate brown usually indicate a lean condition.

If I have my local Ducati dealer perform a re-flash, would it be the same re-flash process regardless of running the tips or the cored exhaust? I would like to interchange between the two if possible (especially if the sound is unbearable)

The reflash is usually (only?) to Ducati Performance (DP) specifications and I believe flexible enough to cover your alternatives, maybe even an open airbox - in which case you'll have about 3 bhp and 8 - 10 Nm more. These numbers require normal back pressure though - probably as in cored cans, maybe not with tips only.

That is NOT like running straight pipes, not at all. Run with the udder only, then run straight pipes, its not the same performance wise or sound wise. I have done both and they cannot be compared.
I have been running udder only for about 3 years. I never reflashed anything. It runs fine, though felt it lost a little bit of torque but that could be my imagination. I've changed/inspected spark plugs and they always look fine. Its not all that loud it sounds like Zards.

If I install those tips, the only thing I would be running past the Marving mid-pipe would be the "S" pipes and the tips. Not sure how back pressure comes into effect at this point.
It seems that different riders have different outlooks / experience.....

No, running just the mid-pipe is the same thing as running straight pipes. Loud, crappy sound, with no back pressure at all.
Do yourself a favor and run a full system like an Arrow system or something similar. One that is designed to work as a system with proper flow and back pressure. Bike will run and sound much better than some cobbled together straight pipe setup.
