Rear Wheel Dirt Much?

I never had shiny black wheels before like these on my '11 796 ABS.  But I also never collected dirt and dust like this before - on the back wheel only.  My chain is not over lubed and the crap on the wheel is not oily.  Does everyone get this showing up on the black or is it possible the ABS phonic wheel is kinda sorta electrostatic or something?  Just curious

Just be glad you don't have white wheels.

I recall the gloss black wheels on my M900 getting quite dirty. The 998's wheels are more of a dark silver, and don't show the grime as badly, but they also collect dirt.

Brake dust tends to collect on the wheels, and streets aren't clean places to begin with.

(As to why your front wheel wouldn't be collecting dirt, I dunno... It's more of a pregnant dog to clean, though, so count your fortunes.)

rubbing alcohol and a micro fiber towel.  no streaks and one wipe after every ride.

I'm a Simple Green/paper towel fan. Then I hit them with some Honda spray polish. Makes the next clean up mo' easy. Bottom line is they just seem to get dirty don't they?

Call me a tightass but I find that diesel fuel on a rag gets 99.9% of gunk off your wheels and most other crud accumulating parts on your bike. Just don't get any on your tyres. And + 1 on polish to slow the accumulation and make the next clean easier.

I kinda like the clean sections in the shape of handprints though. lol

I actually do wipe them down when I change the wheels. windex seems to work fine for me
