MT-03 Headlight awesomeness

New Headlight  and for the first time in three years front turn signals 

Giving the Monster some TLC as it's getting cold and I can't ride finally scored a MT-03 Headlight about $230 was the cost.
Which is good compared to the LSL prices or the streetfighter web sites which is up wards of $400.
Basic run down of the light for those that are curious as I have never seen anything detailed about this light other than a
photoshop of it on an S4R and one on a Monster pre S2R and him/her had the clocks sticking way up it looked goofy.Basically the light
is a H4/55w bulb the factory harness plugs right in. You need to change the running light connector though or put an identical one on your factory harness.
It has an adjustment screw in the back to adjust the aim of the light and its pretty easy you can unscrew the top bolts and sort of flip the light down to
make adjustments. The light also has to vents incase water gets in it can evaporate, overall its a real high quality light.

It took a bit of wand waving but I think its a clean install and I like the look,
lighting improvement is little to any the cut off is better but its still an H4 I personally put a better bulb in. I had to change a few
things to make it sit as close to the clocks as I could get, shortened most of the factory wiring, kill switch, air temp, headlight
wiring tail, and the turn signal wires(The factory stuff is a mess).

I also had a U-bracket from an earlier Monster that I cut the "ear" tabs off and smoothed out. The S2R has some extra stuff up top
and I had the other laying around.

Currently the headlight is held in place with rubber hose clamps till I can find something with a little more class.


I think the most complicated thing about this install was figuring out a way to move the clocks but I came up with a pretty simple solution
I had some carbon project material sitting around so I made use of it basically made two extensions for the factory mounting holes from carbon.
These extensions moved the factory holes back far enough to make me happy you can't see it in the pictures but with further refinement they
have been rubber mounted on the underside, the carbon was cut to shape and cleared.


I'll end up getting the side mounts anodized when I send everything off and get something crazy for the clutch plate. I feel kind of bad because this
bike isn't spotless like most of the Monsters on here but I ride the crap out of this thing. I bought it to ride it so that's what I do and I love it puts a
grin on my face every time I do too! Anyways here are some more pictures, oh this Monster also has full suspension from a 748 fully adjustable
front and rear which is why my fork caps are red (triples were machined to be fitted for the larger forks and then blacked out).

The headlight looks very cool on your bike.  We've seen one of these MT-03 lights on one of the Radical Ducati bikes and it looks bad a$$.  I'm not sure how they mounted theirs though.  Look no mounting brackets.



The next step is to paint or powdercoat your headlight brackets black.  Right now they kind of stick out and are really noticable.  Also, the the headlight housing looks very plasticky in some of your pictures.  If you paint the headlight housing gloss black to match the gauges, triples and tank it will look very classy.

@ Mike the turn signals don't really have a name but I got them from a seller on eBay 2wheelcustom the shop has a lot of cool lights so I'd look around.

@ Travman I love the Pursang which I had enough cash to build one. I had already picked up on a lot of the cues you have noticed the machine will get there. I was just wondering if I should put a stripe on the clocks or the light. The headlight brackets will most likely get anodized black pretty soon along with a funky technique used on the clutch plate.

You can always test to see if you want to put stripes on the clocks or light by putting some colored tape on them for a few days.  If you like it then go for it.  I've never seen a stripe run thru the clocks or headlight before.  It doesn't sound like it will work, but you never know.  It might look cool. 

Skip the anodizing for the brackets, the coating will fade and lose its true color over time.  Go with powdercoat.  Again, very cool.  It really changes the look of the bike.  It takes the bike from a classic look to a modern streetfighter look in the vein of Radical Ducati.

looks great man... the only thing i would change on top of what travman mentioned is that i think the headlight might look a little better if it was set a bit lower.  that way it'll emphasize that hunchback tank of the monster and the upswept line of the headlight would flow more closely into the tank.

I've never seen a headlight I like better than the classic look of the stock, round monster headlight. However, the MT-03 headlight is challenging that thinking for me. It looks really, really sharp.

What did you do that for, now you got me thinking about spending more money!!!    I am trying now to figure out how It would look on my S4Rs.  I always thought the round light looked out of place on mine and this would fix it.

Do you have good source for these, I just did a search and come with one on Ebay only?
