Knocked over

Nothing like coming out in the morning and seeing the bike lying on the side in a pool of its own gasoline. Apparently the gasket in my tank is not terribly effective as most of the gas had leaked and soaked the bike cover. I washed the bike and cover, though both still smell a bit. Surprisingly little damage other than one snapped bar end mirror and a small gouge in the trellis where the tank seems to have dug in. Is there anything else you'd check for mechanically before riding that could have been damaged/tweaked? The joys of urban living.

So someone backed into it or what?
That happened to me once downtown, but the guy was cool enough to hang out until I showed up. He was there with his pregnant wife and gave me all his info. It turned out to be so minor (replacement footboard donated by another DML'er and $75 dent pull) I didn't even bother him about it.
Sucks to hear about your bike, and yeah urban living can definitely suck sometimes.

Sorry to hear.
Check the steering stops and handle bar. The forks also could have moved in the triples. More than likely all is good though.

"So someone backed into it or what? "
The person had parked behind the bike, so they actually drove forward into it, which makes it especially lame. It's not like they didn't see it. And the bike was there before they parked... Anyway, seems to be o.k. I'm glad my bike wasn't as immaculate as some of the others I've seen on this site.

Long time ago in 1995, a city worker truck knocked over my 1993 suzuki gsxr750, $1500 estimate damage. He almost drove away cause he didn't think anyone witnessed it, but my neighbor saw the whole thing and confronted him. He said he was just about to park and leave me a note. yeah right!
