I never subscribed to it (as the savings over newsstand on the UK mags is marginal), but my favorite rag was 'TWO'. Then it became 'Visor Down.' Then it went web-only. Undecided

'Bike' is very good, too.

I'm currently subscribing to 'Road Racing World,' but I'll probably let it drop when my year is up. I just never seem to get around to reading it.

Ayuh.

I like how the British journos are more skeptical of manufacturer claims until they get to play with the bikes in the real world.

The American moto press seems to take every press release as holy scripture. Add to that the fact that they're all at the same press junkets reviewing bikes at the same time and it's almost like they're all the same magazine.

no us mag is any good really... us mcn is ok though.  i have a subscription to that (special deal for $5 for a year) and a subscription to motorcyclist that i also got for $15 for 3 years.  i wouldnt have gotten either if it werent for the special pricing i got though.

basically, if you want a good bike mag, you need to get the uk mcn/bike/ride mags.  what i was hoping would happen is that the ipad could get the uk versions of those mags, but no go on that which sucks.

I got the same $15 three year subscription to Motorcyclist that thought mentioned.  I also get the AMA magazine which has a similar name, but I belong mainly to support their rider's rights stuff and other than a few useful ads in the back, there isn't much in the magazine.  Used to subscribe to "City Bike" which is a local SF Bay area magazine.  I haven't seen it for years and it used to have some good writers.   Bike is good and I don't subscribe but sometimes pick up a copy at the local news stand.

There's also a local freeby California touring magazine whose name escapes me, published by a woman whose name also escapes me.  A  little thin on sport bike content but it's a nice magazine and the price is right.

Sport Rider: Because it was free.

Other wise, I'm partial to the british motorcycle mags.  Tons of quality photos, reviews, tests, nonsense, etc...  I basically visit my local barnes and noble and quickly thumb through them and buy 'em if there's interesting content.

Never subscribed, but Bike UK and Performance Bike UK are 'go-to' magazines at the newsstand.

The UK magazines critique bikes more and explain why they prefer one over another.  Very detailed and comprehensive.  Also, Bike UK will often have an article on technique or the physics behind motorcycles.

Just picked up $20 worth of subscriptions with that link. Hopefully I just bought magazines, and not credit card theft. laughingdp

Thanks for the link. waytogo

I get Classic Bike (US mag) and that useless thing from the AMA.

I used to get roadracing world and racer X but all they did was remind me of the events I no longer get to attend. Also used to get Cycle World but Keven Cameron started to make me feel dumb.
