So for the 'sexiness' of naked belts you got a towel in the cogs.  Nice.

It could have happened on the road, a pebble into the belts etc.

I've never understood open belts, open clutches etc, especially when you see rusted clutch plates and things like this.  I don't drive around with the hood off the truck, put the covers back on if its a road bike.

Unreal.

Yes sir, right away sir.

Anything else?

to each their own
some people don't understand motorcycle riding to begin with
I've had open belt covers for the past 5 years and about 20k miles with no issues
like everything in life, it's a matter of balancing risk with desire and accepting the consequences of one's actions if the worst case scenario arises

Full belt covers or nothing at all.

If that half-cover hadn't been on, that rag would have just passed thru.

I've run without covers for years.  Never had a problem.  But I also don't clean my bike when its running....

the service writer at my shop has what appears to be 1/4 of a toothpick worth of splintered wood on his desk that got caught between a belt and pulley while riding that caused it to jump timing.

I so badly want to run open belts but if anything happened my wife would kill me for taking the chance. She hates that I got it and refuses to get on the death trap as she calls it.

It wasn't that bad considering what could have happened, just two bent exhaust valves on the forward cylinder.  No valve guide damage and no piston damage.

Did not want to screw with you He Man, just remembered that thread. Another funny thing is that I am always on the fence with this and there is a good chance I will run them open next riding season... I am actually more concerned that some funny guy puts in there something while it is parked.
