Cycle Cat Clip-on question
«
on:
November 13, 2011, 09:29:07 AM »
I got a set of beautiful cycle-cat clip-ons I am about to put on my Monster 620 but I have a few questions/concerns.
1. Once tightened is there any possibly they may slip down the forks? They seem to only be held in place only by how tightly the clamps are fastened. Is there a recommended torque?
Will these clamps leave marks on my forks? Should I decide to go back to raised handlebars?
Thanks guys!

i think you know the answer to these questions.
theres dozens of sport bikes with clip ons as standard pieces. there should of been a recommended torque setting in the instruction sheet that came along with them. just follow the instructions and you should be golden.
and yes/no you should go back to handle bars (pick one)

Yeah youre right I figured the same thing I guess I just need reassurance sometimes. But I am still curious regarding whether the clamps leave marks on your forks? Anyone ?

On mine I haven't seen any marks from the triple clamps or the clip ons.
I think the torque you'll be using is 20-25 Nm if it's M8 bolts and 35-38 if it's M10.....
As posted here:

My work shop manual says 24 Nm for a stock top triple.

it will, if you exceed the recommended torque. But that's why there is a recommended Torque. And you need to be Careful.

If torqued to the proper specs the clipons will not mar the forks no will you be able to slide the clipon down the fork. The clamping pressure is significant.
