Cold start problem on 2003 DS1000 monster

My bike is difficult to start on a cold or cool morning. When the temperature warms up is starts quite easy. Bike has done 25000kms and runs really well. Had the valves done recently and plugs replaced. When cold fast idle doesn't help......I just need to wait until it kicks after a few hits of the starter then give it a rev to get it going. When temp warm fast idle is fine and no problems. Is this a problem with a sensor? Bike is a 2003 ds 1000 dark......any help appreciated. Alice.

My 03 DS1000 dosen't like starting from cold with he fast idle.
I found it starts best with no throttle or fast idle.
Hit the starter, cranks over a few turns, as soon as it fires, up the fast idle all good.
The Duc mech didn't think it was a big issue,they all have their own idiosyncrasy's

Mine is the same and fast idle and throttle doesn't help. It's a pain in the ass! Idiosyncrasy or not!

isnt that how its suppose to be? your suppose to apply the fast idle after you start the bike. its sole purpose is so you dont have to stand there and hold the throttle.

if you crack the throttle while starting it will only end up taking in too much air and then cut out mid way....

on the 2006 S2R1k there isnt even a fast throttle, the computer automatically uses a ruel enrichment map for the first few seconds of cold start and then self maintains the idle, but i always found it easier if it just reved it and held it at 3,000rpm for about 15-20 seconds and it will do great on its own.

That reminds me  my stater motor was on the way out ,and the sprag gear was cactus made cranking the engine over a difficult task.
Changed all that out  greatly improved things

Nope.... had the starter motor done recently as well and cranks over just fine.
