I have a 2007 S4RS with a plastic tank. Over the past year I've noticed the space between the tank and the plastic cap around the ignition has become progressively smaller. It never really concerned me because I could still latch and unlatch the tank.

I lifted the tank last week to clean the air filter. When I lowered the tank back down the latch would not fit between the tank and the ignition. It's very strange. The ignition unit is on tight and I don't think that can be adjusted anyway.  The three bolts on the tank hinge are adjusted so the tank is all the way back. It's like the tank grew or something. I tried adjusting the latch a few different ways but the tank is so close to the ignition only the wire loop part of the latch can fit and it doesn't lower enough to catch the hook on the ignition mount. The thicker metal part of the latch doesn't fit at all.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Am I missing something?

There is also an adjustment at the back of the tank under the seat.

Seriously though, welcome, and sorry to hear about your tank.  Lot of that going around.   :'(
