how come we never get any of the cool stuff in the usa?

Because we suck.
And the sugar fountain fairy swore so hard when she came to super-size that stale hope soybean; liiiike a homeless German woman. Who is this super-sizing spirit-crushing femme? And tell her I'll break a tree root up in her shrimp.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw thatâ€"it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

Fun with forks!

Pulled the forks apart for some TLC and life is better.
Polished the lowers and installed some of the SKF low frictions seals sourced from Slavins. Before the lower wouldn't just slide to full extension if left to hang, disconnected from the cap. You had to help gravity a bit to overcome the friction of the seals on the lower. Now... lets say I almost dropped one on the floor it slid so well.

New bushings as they looked a bit sad too. Speaking of sad, the oil looked a bit more like used motor than fork. Pretty damn black when it came out.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

So for the more SuMo minded - what sorts of Sag are you guys running?

I'm just guessing but mine might be around 2"

I have never checked it, never fiddled with comp or rebound and never even checked tire pressure.

I just ride the thing.

Ghads man. Guess you were more lucky than me. Mine was set up according to the manual. And the settings in the manual mostly suck.

It may suck, I just don't know any better

Mind sucked enough it actually hurt to ride at first. Waaaay to much compression damping left me with a very unhappy tailbone if I rode for long at all.

Think I'm running around 4" in the rear. I have it more of a dirt bike setup. I can get the proper sag setup out of the front. Even removing the spacers from the fork caps. The front has also always had a lot of stiction. But it feels good so I don't think about it so much.

So if you feel like redoing your forks - that stiction can be improved a good bit. I just did mine and there's a marked improvement. With the OEM stuff the slider tube would not move from the upper under gravity's pull alone - cap off, spring out. The static friction over the seals would just hold it in place. I got to work and replaced the seals with the SKF ones from slavensracing as well as a new bushing set, inner and outer. While it was all apart I had at the sliders with some polish. Their surface was not as slick as one might hope for in pretty new forks.

So after all that - the sliders move much more freely and will go to full extension (no cap/spring) under gravity alone.

Mines getting to be a bike again! Dropped in my new valve shims last night, buttoned it up to a safe to run state and fired it up. Fired right up - yay! Then drooled oil all over from the valve cover - boo! I'd mis-seated the gasket  [bang]. So the airbox etc came off and got the gasket seated properly on the 2nd pass. Lesson learned.

So since I pulled it into the garage the last time I've
- Serviced the forks
- Installed adjustable preload caps on said forks
- Put some better rebound adjustment knobs on said caps
- Had someone service the shock
- Replaced the radiator
- Sent the injector for service - DTM you might want to do this before your big trip
- Replaced the fuel filter - DTM you might want to do this too before your big trip
- Replaced the stock radiator hoses with some SAMCO silicon ones, cuz I wanted to.
- Replaced skid plate that cracked - Kudos to Flatlands racing - they replaced it for free, no questions asked. Also the new one had a different design that looks like it'll address the cracking
- Fancied up the front rotor with a 'KTM' wave rotor that had been on back order since late sept.
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
