Between a just about done rear tire and a tiny 2 gallon tank, long runs are out for me on the KTM for the moment. However, I'll be buying a bunch of stuff soon to alleviate those concerns.  Cheesy

Do tell? Big tank?

my initial run of farkles and fussing is coming to an end. Just need to sort out a couple mis orders. One my fault for getting something that fit a 990 and one is theirs for saying it fit a 690 when it's really for the smaller dirt type bikes.

Speaking of - either of your gents interested in the KTM rear axle sliders - part #54803046200
Should fit 125-530cc 1998-2011
I haven't talked to the place I got it about a return as they aren't open yet.
Brand new- only opened the bag to get a good look and said "Well shit, no way that nut is big enough"

a guy is parting out a 640 adventure, he already got rid of the engine and few other little things. I told him I'd buy up everything else, so tank and seat are among that as well as more rims and tires etc. I can tailor the bike for whatever I want to do that day this way.

Neat! I'm trying to gather up bits for more adventuresome stuff. I want a 2nd tail plastic that I can drill for rack/grab rail... there was one on ebay that I got sniped on  Angry Brand new is near a ben for one - which sucks as I want one that's a bit beat up so I won't feel bad if I beat it more.

Finally got the orange out for some fun and fussing. The 690 has 3 (well technically 4) maps you can access via a switch under the seat that I gave a try. The normal is good. The 'soft' is almost worthless on the street. Might be handy on the dirt though. The 'advanced' is also almost useless on the street. Throttle response is so immediate that low-mid RPMs are so jerky it's annoying.

Seems like I'll need to do some work on the fueling. THough it's got an aftermarket header and exhaust (FMF) I suspect it's running the stock maps which people have noted can be touchy. They have also noted that with that combo one needs the end spark arrestor baffle in - and man are they right. Took it out the other day and the bike stalled left and right. Put it back in, no stalling.

I've always run mine on the Advanced setting, full power. The only time i have used the others is just to see what they do, the "soft" in the dirt. Running the akropovic pipe. I believe mine has been remapped with the akropovic mapping (done at the dealer) no stalling. If yours hasn't been done, i believe the same mapping will work with your pipe. No PCIII needed have the dealer flash it with that map. And until recently there hasn't been a PCII available for the 690. Mine does run lean with the spark arrester baffle out. I get a backfire and popping upon decel.  But no stalling.
