you ever take that thing into the woods?

Just a bit. I'm a dirt rookie so keep it toned down. Also where I live there aren't so much trails that one can just run to. It takes a while to get out far enough. Got a fair amount of unmaintned roads that aren't so far that I've been exploring some.

Did haul it up to way upstate NY when visiting the wifes fam and found a bunch of marked (aka legal) ATV/Snow trails I explored a little bit of

that's the problem here in jersey - taking the thing out is an all day event. a buddy of mine has a street legal 450, but it's still a haul to get to most of the good trails and you'd end up chewing up any halfway decent dirt tire on the ride to the trails.

Sounds similar to here - not so far south of you in the DC metro area.

my 1100 isn't really that bad - could 200 cc's make a huge different?

Can't even begin to compare the two bikes as far as engine performance goes.  Your 1100evo, as nice as the motor is, is an air cooled 2V.  The KTM has a liquid cooled 4V.  Even if they were the same displacement, the KTM would smoke the evo.  Take my two bikes for instance.  The DS1000 in my SC is not quite stock, and the bike has had a few things done to reduce the weight.  My SD is at least a good 40 lbs heavier, but it will just walk right away from the SC.  Plus, it pulls harder, much further into the rev range.

Being faster than you thought possible…it feels good. No, screw that—it feels like shotgunning a gallon of adrenaline and chasing it with an all-night orgy aboard a burning Viking boat.

obviously ~100% more horsepower is gonna make a huge different in the way it rides - i think i read somewhere that the new ktm 1300 is gonna put out 1199 numbers and possibly be lighter. i was talking about as far as insurance goes... someone I work with has a bike worth maybe half of what mines worth with marginally more power but because it's a sport bike, she pays quite a bit more for insurance than I do...Obviously there are going to be differences depending on company or whatever, but I think it's kind of funny how some vehicles are classified.

yes...like my SM-T is considered a sportbike...but my Monster is considered a standard and they have my Cagiva as a tourer....very odd indeed...

whoa. that thing is a rocket, and look at that cute little turbo!  hah my first thought was "there'll be absolutely zero lag"  but i guess with the relatively small engine there might be some after all...that's probably a strange sensation to get used to on a bike.  I bet power wheelies halfway through the gear as it spools up are a LOT of fun.
