The guy on the Beemer was holding way back.

+1...but the KTM still looked good. No way it should be expected to hang with an S1000 though.

I would take this over the new water cooled monster any day. It has that craziness factor going for it.

Did you guys see this?

Now that would be fun little track bike that wouldn't try to kill you.

Stopped at ktm dealer tonight.

The 690 dukes are cool, but are still close to $10k despite nonadjustable forks and non radial brake master. Switches seem cheap as well.

The 1290 SD isn't happening but an 1190 version is. They're getting at least one, maybe more and I think they're going to let me take it for a spin.

Made a deposit to secure the first 2014 500EXC my local dealer gets in next spring (He orders a big bunch of KTMs and Ducatis each spring with only a handful of orders the rest of the year).

He has a demo 2013 500EXC in stock and was willing to knock some off the price but after my test ride, I am pretty sure that people have flogged the everliving shit out of that bike (because *I* flogged the ever living shit out of it).

I rode his 690 Enduro R (that has a TON of mods) and while I liked it a lot, it still felt like a bigger bike to me while the 500 felt like a dirtbike.

The first thing I noticed right off is how light it is compared to the Multi. I almost threw the thing over while standing it up off the side stand. Hehe.

I did convince him to cut me a deal on a set of Excel SM wheels for it too...  popcorn bacon

But anyway, thought I would give you guys an update. I just found myself giggling in my helmet...well pretty much from the first second I whacked upen the throttle.

Isn't that what everyone does to a demo bike?   Evil

Seriously.

I never even considered that demo bikes had anything other than wot  Evil

On another note, I should have some pics tonight of my 450. Made some changes.

Pretty certain it is.
They had similar power deliveries but the 690 kept going where the 500 needed to shift.
The 500 gets sort of buzzy when at a constant RPM drone but not even a quarter as bad as my wife's 300 Ninja which is vastly improved over the Ninja 250. Heh.
