690 Duke, 2012 model, 6000 miles.
Got a collapsed cam rocker bearing. Not catastrophic, but causing excessive valve clearance which was audible. Luckily not expensive to replace.
Anyone heard of this?

Let me guess - exhaust side?

There's been troubles with the rockers. An early like 2008 batch had bad bearings. But also it seems that the auto decomp might cause over short bearing life.

Good news is it's an easy DIY job and the part is about $60

Thanks SP.
Sounds like the cause.
Rocker and bearing kit is $135 here, not bad.

Rocker and bearing? The valve rockers come with bearings. Each rocker is about 60 usd. So exhaust and intake would be around your listed price.

New kit, rocker with bearing. Thought about bearing replacement, but at that price.
The bike is a nifty little jigger!

Loving mine more and more! Headed out to Green Ridge State Forest today, 2 hours of slab each way, but absolutely worth it!

This is Bond's Landing on the Potomac River.

Not the easiest task. Keep an eye out for 690 Enduros too. One can fit SMC wheels and brakes to the Enduro, but not vice versa.

I was not aware of  that.

The smc has a steeper rake so the enduro wheel hits stuff when the fork compresses.

Also the Enduro has longer forks with an offset axle mount. The SMCs are a bit shorter and the axle is inline like sporty bikes. Shocks different and the triple is too. But 99% of those bikes is identical.

Wheels from the SMC are a direct no fuss swap in the rear. In front you need a caliper relocator *if* you want the full Monty and do the SMC brake too. If not the Enduro rotor just swaps right on

What zooom said. That's how much I have into my 450 and sumo conversion.

That's a nice package.

The only thing wrong with it, that I can see, is that its not in your garage.
