« on: November 24, 2011, 05:36:38 PM »

Myself and two other guys from work have decided to go on a Pre-Christmas motorcycle tour.
We leave Adelaide on the 16th Dec and arrive back home late on the 23rd Dec. I better because it's my wife's birthday on the 24th.
The sketchie plan is to wing it with regards to Accom, and to head across to the east and do both the Vic and NSW alpine areas. Undecided Undecided
The plan so far:

adelaide to Bendigo

Bendigo to vic Alpine areas

across to the coast and then cut up through Canberra

Canberra to Oberon and NSW alpine country

head back to Adelaide via Mildura (most likely) and the riverland area of Sth Aust

There will be Two Monsters waytogo Dolph (S2R1K and S4R) and a GS1200 Beamer going. All bikes are geared ready to go except for a rear tyre on my S2R. 9better get one fitted next week and scrubbed in)

Any suggested rides in these areas will be appreciated. waytogo

Maybe we could catch up with anyone who would like to tag along while touring around!

I'll try to remember to take pics etc and post up on return, but I have a memory like a siv. Tongue

Looking forward to it Dolph

Cheers
Vossy

Check out the Bonang H'Way, my mate that introduced me to it on a trip from taree to Phillip Is for MGP he simply calls it the road of a thousand corners ( I think that is an exageration coz I am sure there is only 970 or so) a little bit of dirt but not much and it was in pretty good condition then.
If your travels take you there I thoroughly recommend the pub at Corryong for an overnighter one of the best Surf and Turf's I've eaten, rooms are nothing flash but food and beer more than make up for it

Just had a look at this ride on Google earth, and I put it in satellite mode and had a look, truly awesome, been 9 years since I've been down that way, have to do it sometime soon.

   I too, are jealous.

Don't forget to take plenty of happy snaps.

Well folks I'm a bit shattered at the moment.

Firstly the bike tour is off for me anyway, ( the other two guys are still going at this stage)

My beautiful wife is in hospital after having a horse riding accident yesterday. She'll recover ok but It might take several weeks to a few months perhaps.
I know it's not great timing but hey my girl is more important than any ride.

Looks like it will be a quiet Christmas for us this year.

She has a broken collar bone, two broken ribs and a punctured lung. The worst part is that the horse she was riding wasn't even her own.

Now off to the hospital.

Ouch sorry to hear that  boo  shame about the ride but she is more important.
Bloody horses ,I hate the things they always try to bite me or throw me off.
Stick with two wheel ponies .

Sorry to hear about the cancellation Vossy but there will be other rides.

I agree with two dogs, I won't ride anything I can't touch the ground on.

I hope your better half has a speedy recovery.

Ouch! That's bad news Vossy.  Cry  Hope she gets well soon.  I gave up horse riding after a bad fall and took up two wheels instead.  Maybe your wife should do the same.  Grin

Geez Vossy best wishes for a good recovery for your wife mate!

As for me I will never ride a horse - if I am going to get thrown off riding something I want it to be through my own inactions or stupidity! Besides horses don't like me either, they tend to think I am an apple or something as they keep biting me!

Bad luck Sad hope your wife has a speedy recovery waytogo and that you get your tour sooner rather than later. Things have a way of sorting out so don't go writing anything off yet, just consider it a temporary set back

Thanks for the replies guys.
Yeah, bloody horses!
My wife is recovering slowly. Fluid drained off the lungs yesterday made for better breathing, so she's in better spirits.
For me well, I'm not sleeping all that well, but that's understandable.

It looks like at this stage we might schedule the trip for the first school holidays next year. (before it gets too cold)

As for the horses- that's our life. We've been around them for 25 or so years and they are apart of us. Unfortunately it's one of those things that can happen.
