Cheers - I'm Donald and I am in Dallas, Texas

I ride a 96 BMW R 11 GS hey.. at least it's Euro and have a lot of friends who are Ducatisti !
I have been lurking on the Forum for a while and my best friend said I should get over the fact I don't ride a Duc and register.  I have been to a few socials and everyone is really super fun and more about the riding than the machinery!  I've ridden for 30+ years on many different types of bikes mostly dirt & sport.

I've gotten a lot of great info from the Monster forums - really appreciate the thread about what happened, what I did right & wrong, what I will do better!  No matter how much you ride there is always more to learn.

Thanks to Duc L & the DFW Hooligans for encouraging me to join up!! Next round is on me  chug

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

Thanks for the welcome !  It may take me a while to post a pic of the Trail 90 since it will take some time for me to get signed up with a host etc.

I think I need to figure out spell check too - in my original hello post I misspelled MONSTER! bang head

Thanks for all the friendly welcomes !  The DFWM group had a ride last weekend and it was a lot of fun - well organized - kinda hot - but so awesome to be part of a group ride that turns so many heads.  We went to this little town called Muenster TX that has a German heritage and had a great schnitzel & beer and came back to Dallas.  When we got to this little town I was reminded of The Wild One and Brando and the fantasies of my youth ( when movies were in B&W ).

It was totally different really because we all had on tech gear, helmets, etc. and were polite to the townsfolk and waitresses.  It was still awesome to see how traffic stopped and people gathered to watch us mount up & ride off.

I've always been sort of a solo rider - waving hello to others in passing but not really doing much group stuff but the DFWM group has me hooked.  I hope to go on some of the Fall trips out of state and hang out more with these folks.

I want to do a ride in Spain sometime next year so i may get back with you msincredible about tour companies etc. - if you know about any good threads or travel sites I would like to hear about them.  waytogo

Very cool! waytogo  I rented my bike through AdMo-Tours, and it worked out well for me, although I didn't do a formal tour as it was just part of a business trip.

You should absolutely check in with member NuTTs, as he is based in Spain. (I think Madrid area?)

Also, this thread about a member's travels through Europe makes a good read.

Have fun! Grin

Grin  That's me in a nutshell - Low Pressure - kinda breezy - I'll try to give you warning if I think I'm about to blow  vomit ?!?!

My screen name makes me feel like an X-Man - I will try to use the power for good !

If you have not read the story of the 20 something kids in Europe link sent by msincredible above PLEASE take the time sometime - it is hilarious !!!  Her link to AdMo Tours is helpful too - and really has me thinking - two weeks in Spain with one week motorcycle touring - sounds like a pretty fine experience !

Really enjoying the DMF'ers and being a Hooligan Gentleman !!   [moto]

Cyclone, I know of a company based out of barcelona that will rent you a badass bike for several weeks or days for cheap and the owner of the company rocks.

He'll ride with you, show you all the yummy local roads,  and get you to ride 'round el circuito de Catalunya...

If this sounds good, let me know...

If by, "I know a girl that is awesome enough to have used this company before" means "I know a company" than ya....he knows a company  Wink laughingdp  I wouldn't say "cheap" though - espec not with the currency exchange these days. It's going to cost you a pretty penny but oh it will be soooooo worth it.

hehe but seriously Cyclone, if you want info about riding in Spain, PM me - I spoke with a few co's before deciding on the one I went with as well and would be happy to give you some pointers!

Cheesy It's ALL Good !!   D-Lu I will get back to you about this for sure - trip will probably be Fall of '09.

Matador - you scare me too much not to be nice to you  Grin  just kidding !!

Seriously I have a dear friend that has a condo in Barcelona that I can have for the asking !!  So I'm thinking of a Med coast drive - with maybe a trip to Granada as part of a loop back to Barcelona.  Cyclonette still has to do a few trips with me stateside before it becomes clear if she is up for cycling Spain - It may be that I ride alone & she joins me for time off the bike - in some ways my motorcyle heart would prefer to go it alone because I might be inclined to do some back country rough road stuff.  I've been to Spain before and love the smaller rustic spots - wife will want to see the guidebook stuff !  Obviously it's going to take some work and planning to make this dream come true & not go nightmare on me.

Thanks again everyone for your willingness to share info & stoke the fire!  waytogo

Be very afraid. He punches girls in the face. And slams them with the doors of trucks. And that's just when he LIKES them.

EDIT: Sorry for any confusion - this probably looks bad. I made the above post as a joke to El Matador as he was sitting in front of my computer with intentions of deleting it immediately and for some reason the "remove" did not go through. Very sorry this looks bad. El Matador is a stand-up guy and would never do anything ungentleman-like, I will personally vouch for it.
Cheers,
Lucrece
