I used to work with a guy that looked, sounded, thought, and behaved almost exactly like this dude back in college. I used to tell people he was like a cross between Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop. I was an arch student and he a general contractor. He built really awesome ornate staircases from scratch. He was good at making stuff.

I'd work in his shop for a while to get one of those bikes. All the while learning the skills to keep the bike running.

That would be my dream job just to work in there when I retire from the military in 3 yrs.  It is so true that the tradesman and craftsman of america is quickly becoming a lost art....plumbers, electricians, mechanics, welders and machinists will have the upper hand in the next 10-20 yrs.  Already I have been offered jobs part time as a helicopter mechanic locally since I have my Airframes/Powerplants licenses.

So your saying that becoming an electrician right out of school was a good choice.  It does have its advantages like a heated garage to store the bike in!!! Cheesy It is a cool vid and i do agree that tradesmen are becoming a rarity in this country, but the kids are more talented than we will ever be.

The guy is 100% right. Manufacturing and industry is slowly dying.  Its not a spark that will ever go completely out but it is shrinking.

I can't tell you how many people I meet, both older and younger than me, that don't have the slightest clue how do do anything with their hands other than pick up a phone to call someone that does.

Its not a bad thing, just a frightening trend.

The more slack that we, as a country, give the more another country will take up.

I'm doing my part to take it back Smiley

My friend's son, a noob electrician, was redirected to a last minute job the other day.

His employer charged the customer ~ $ 500 for this.

He changed a light bulb.

Best quote of the video:

"our generation before us said that about us"

Just remember, you know you're old when you continually pregnant dog about the shortcomings of the younger generations.
