Think it would be possible to graft a 748 tail (or any SBK tail) onto my S2r ?
I've been itching to try it.
There's a German company that makes a seat cowl that looks SBK-ish but they seem to be unobtainiun here in the US. Of course that makes me want to do it even more.
I've got a source for used parts.

That's a step in the right direction. Needs lots of work around the tank but it's got potential. That makes me realize I'd have to start with a fiberglass tail and not the OEM plastic pieces. Fiberglass I can work with. Plastic - not so much. I'll check Airtech and Sharkskins to see what they have. I should give them a call to see if any other knuckleheads have tried this before.

Here's a pic of the Euro one.......

I think the seat plus the bellypan puts that bike a little too far over the top.
I like the seat/tail, though.

anything is possible. IMO the monster tank is too round for the SBK tails. In the picture above it looks like unless you have very short legs your knees will have a very narrow range of comfort.

But if you take your time, have a clear vision, do it in conjunction with other things and fully follow that through you can overcome all that.

This has rattled around in my head for the last year, too

I finally decided against, cost & lack of welding skills!

I have completed a complete tail chop relocated license plate & turn signals under the seat.
Next on the mod list ( next two weeks ) install 20mm rear height spacers & shave the seat & recover it.

Check the radical Ducati site under the JPS model they have nice SBK tail cowl

Happy New Year

I'm all ears!  popcorn popcorn popcorn

The cool part about it is that it's just a large cowl - no mods to the bike are required.

Here's a YouTube vid of an 888. That tail looks long enough in front to allow for trimming. Seems to be plenty wide enough, too.

contact them by email directly. they won't charge VAT for shipping to the US, but shipping is a bit more expensive.
they don't have a normal importer. but the more people that ask for it, the more they will want one.

The one I posted is ducvet.

I wanted to fill the recess for him, but he actually likes the look of his.

I wish I had a pic from the rear...he has a custom undertail exhaust that's killer.

Found it!

 bacon bacon bacon bacon bacon

It says it fits a 900, though.
Think there would be a problem fitting it to my S2r ?

I think the standard SB tail is a little too wide for the monster looks. At least the one at the top of this post. Maybe the SF tail would work. I may start a project like this, but the fit at the tank has to be as good as factory. Foam and a hot knife, fiberglass. I don't know. Definitely would want help from someone who fabricates similar stuff for a living.
