I am looking to bring my 2007 S2R 800 to a local dealer to be serviced.  I bought the bike used last year with 1,500 miles on it and have since ridden about 1,200 miles.  According to the previous ower, the 600 mile service was already performed but who really knows for sure.  (The dealer he bought it from no longer sells Ducati so there is no record)

The bike was bone stock when I purchased it and have since replaced the "udder" with a Marving mid-pipe and also chopped / cored the stock exhaust cans.

In a previous post, members were very helpful in providing insight as to what needs to be performed to safely run the motor with an exhaust set up like this.  Re-flashing the ECU, installing a Power Commander, etc.  The problem is, after contacting 2 Ducati dealers, I am getting mixed responses as to what needs to be (or even can be) done.

Does anyone here have experience with this particular modification on this particular Monster?  I'm sure something needs to be done to the ECU since the exhaust has been modified.  Any suggestions on who to call?

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.

I live in NJ.  I spoke with the guys at Trebour and Cross Country.  Both places very professional and helpful.  they just gave me different answers as to what could / couldnt be done.  I called the guys at Fast By Ferraci in PA and they were very helpful / knowledgeable as well.  Wherever I take it, its going to cost a few bucks.  I want to make sure what needs to get done gets done.....

If Country Joe is still at Trebour, then that is the place to go.  He's pretty straight up.

if you're not too far from Paxinos, PA, then MikMar is a good place.  Ducati tech out in the middle of nowhere.

Why are all the good shops out in the middle of nowhere???

maybe around you, but around me it has always been slab-city to get to them.  100 miles of tarmac, you could land a fleet of 787s on it.

One of the reasons you are getting different answers is there are different answers.  The very affordable answer is just do the CO trim, particularly if you leave the airbox alone.  The bike will still be a little lean at high engine speeds.  Second best is a Power Commander or similar device with a canned map.  Best is a PC with a custom map.

I have to agree with Ducatiz about Country Joe at Trebour.  You might also want to speak with Steve at  http://www.europeancycleservices.com  I would trust both of them with my first born.

In my previous research on this topic, the consensus seemed to be if you don't touch the airbox you don't really need to alter the fuelling.
I now have open airbox cored cans and a power commander dynotuned by the local PC expert. Made a huge difference, great linear power delivery, better torque and no popping on overrun. I can send you my map via email if you want to go the power commander route,   I have already sent it to a 4 or 5 people on this board.

I have a 2005 S2R800 running a full Arrows exhaust (no udder). I have not touched the airbox and it runs fine.

As standard it ran very snatchy below 4000rpm. Now it pulls cleanly from 2000 rpm. It doesn't run hot suggesting its not running lean. I may eventually have the fuelling looked at but I don't think it needs it.

I would be interested to hear what advice you eventually get.

BIG +1 to Mike Duzick at MikMar Motors

That place really is out in the middle of nowhere

I really appreciate the help thus far....  I have no intention on altering the air box.  I only modified the exhaust to achieve more of a throaty exhaust note.  Now that I have that, I want to make sure I am not damaging any internals...  (Howie - Without sounding like a simpleton, what exactly is the CO trim?)

CO - Carbon Monoxide

trim refers to the modifying of the fuel range curve which affect the entire range of operation.

The stock ECU only allows trim settings.

A Power Commander (PCIII) will allow you to modify the fuel feed at any point in the RPM range so you can make a custom curve, you can even set it separately for each cylinder.

Easiest way to check if its running okay is to check the sparkplug.

I have an 05 with the same set up. New mid pipe and cored cans. Air box is UNmodified. I have done nothing and the bike runs great.

I wouldn't worry.
