Cleaned, prepped and buffed my M1100 so I can take it into Frasers for a quote on trade-in price on a new '13 848 SF. I'll let you know what the outcome is as soon as I get the balls to tell my wife
Well that idea died a quick and natural death. It seems we're going OS for a holiday next year and we can't afford a new "Toy" as it was delicately put. So as in all good horror movies the Monster isn't dead yet and will arise in a new form. I went to Bikecraft who have done most of the work on my bike, ostensibly to get a quote on getting all the "PI whoopsie marks" painted on the tank and frame. An hour later I had signed on to expand the quote to a custom paint job, replacement of the pebble-dashed Rizoma gear on the damaged left side of the bike, a bespoke FG belly pan and best of all a set of Wizard Sleeve pipes. Brad at BC wanted me to put my ideas down so he could capture my requirements better so I did some PS work (forgive me for the < artistic result) and below are the results.
This is the stock photo from Google, a red 1100s with Boom-Tubes (I think) that I started with
Here it is colorized with a smoky grey gloss paint on tank, frame and tail, hopefully a couple coats of clear lacquer to give it depth. Also changed the color of the forks to reflect my standard Showa forks. I want to remove the Ducati stencils and instead have the 70's twin wide & thin stripe across the tank and matching on the tail in a silvery white color. I don't have that on the Shopped photos but you know what I mean. You can also see one proposed shape of the Sleeve pipes, powdered in a gunmetal.
Here's a slightly different pipe length and shape.
And my personal fave, with a slight bend in the pipes, which looks better and will probably deflect exhaust heat build up from my legs at slow speed:
Comments, suggestions welcome. I'm hoping for the quote to come back on Monday or early next week and am happy to share.
