Picked up my new S4R Wednesday and gave it a well needed bath, oil change and new battery. Drove it around town and to work then dropped it off for new belts, valve adjustment, carb sync and suspension tuning.
Next week tail gets cleaned up and blinkers get replaced with Barracuda Mini Vipers.

Went to fix up the beer tray and fit my new rear indicators.
They sent me two rights!
I could have simply turned the left one around, which I actually did first, before noting that the shape was different to the one on the right.
I had the little cutout slots for water drainage facing down, but the manufacturer clearly got the process wrong on the left side indicator.
We'll see how long they take to respond to my comments!
In the meantime, I fixed up a dodgy thread and bought some new allen bolts to fit it all back together.

Looked at mine today. First time I've been able to open the garage door without a shitload of pain.
F%&^ing rheumatoid arthritis.
Hopefully once I see the specialist I'll be out and about again.
And I'll catch up for that ride Steve.

Bikes always look prettier at the creek.
I got back to work on my loom. Over the last couple of days I've sorted the taillight and rear indicators. Next is to do the front end.
I'm seriously considering buying some wrecked 695 heads, just so I can get my baby back on the road quicker.

I went and visited my Monster at the custom shop to see how it was all going. If you scan down this thread a few pages ago I mentioned I was sending my bike in for some mods and I posted some photoshopped mock-ups. Its taken a couple of months but things are going well and quite close to the original concept.
The color is a dark grey/graphite but its covered in dust from the first cut back so it appears lighter. It still needs polishing, it's not a matte finish so it will look darker when polished. One of the pipes has an iron mockup on the end that will be used to form a mold to pour the alloy into for the final version. You can see the rectangular cross-section. We thought it was more interesting than a plain circular mouth. The pipes have been ceramic coated also in a graphite color. The wiring loom has been tidied up to get close to a minimalist look/feel and although I would love to recess the instrument binnacle I can't see a way of doing it without chopping the headlight mounts, which I don't want to do.
Still to come is the front guard that was still being sprayed at the time. I'm still tossing up whether or not a belly pan is needed now the pipes are much more streamlined.
I estimate another 10-14 days before it's on the road. When it is I have to get it dyno'ed and have the engine management mapped to the pipes. I have the Termi ECM and the O2 sensor is installed properly so I shouldn't get any probs there (fingers x-ed).
Whatdy think?

I like it. No belly pan I think.
Wheels and engine cover going to get painted or not?

Thanks for the feedback Rowdy.
Painting the wheels is a yes, but when my bank balance recovers, color TBD, I have no idea at the moment.
But engine cover, I'll probably leave it as is, I don't see a need to change it really.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of the headlight cover and now that I look at it again, the clutch cover DOES need to be painted doesn't it, as Rowdy suggested. It might be too late to do this time but I suspect I will have it back in a couple of months for the wheels and some fine adjustments. Brad at Bikecraft (the shop where this is all getting done) has been taking pics of the end to end process for possible submission to one of the customer bike mags when completed.

The exhaust isn't to my tastes, but it is definitely unique
Agree on the no belly pan.

So that's the actual colour that the bike will stay? Not just a primer or something?

Mine was back together enough that it looked like a bike, so I sat on it in the garage making motorcycle noises.
My cat did, too. Though he doesn't restrict himself to the workshop to make motorcycle noises - what with Mogget being such a happy cat he does it all the time.

Nah, it's OK ... that thread will make our brains hurt. Much prefer the dumbed-down Aussie version:
put things back together
sat on it
made bike noises
Back to the heads now?
