On June 3 I'll be riding with Bikers Against Diabetes to raise money for the American Diabetes Association.  I'm usually one of the few riders who doesn't dress like a pirate, but I don't care.

I've set a high goal for myself, based on what I achieved last year.  Some DMF members were very generous in helping me meet and exceed my goal last year.

If you can make a $5 tax deductible donation to the ADA by following the link below, I would really appreciate it:

Done.  Happy to help.   waytogo
I see you have a higher goal than your initial goal last year when you had to increase your fundraising goal a few times.

Ciao!

yeah I learned that lesson from last year.  I didn't set a very high goal last year because the economy was so shitty, but the generosity of people surprised me.  So this year I'm aiming high.  I have 5 months to make it happen, so I'm hoping I can make it.

so i'm off work today waiting for a plumber...

In just a few days I'm already to 28% of my goal.  I feel grateful to have e-friends and e-quaintances willing to support me, especially when times are tough for so many.

I'm hoping I can continue the momentum, one $5 donation at a time.

My real goal the last 3 years has been to get more non-HD riders to join me, but doesn't seem like their thing (at least here in SoCal).  Not a lot of charity rides for us non-pirates, it seems, but I keep trying to get others involved, especially the younger guys.  It's challenging, but every time someone donates it gives me hope.

Strangely enough, I'm not even diabetic.  No one in my family is diabetic (that I know of).  That's usually everyone's first question, "Are you diabetic?"  "Nope, just trying to help others."  I'm sure there are other ways, but merging my joy of riding with helping others seemed like a no-brainer.

That's my ramble for the morning as I wait for the glory of caffeine to kick in.

If you could make a $5 tax deductible donation today, I would be one step closer.  As someone who lost a leg in a moto accident told me about my meager $10 donation "Every little bit helps, and every bit helps a little."

due to some great people i'm at 50% of my goal.  The date has been moved back to July 1, so I have more time to make my goal.

If you could make a $5 donation this weekend, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks again to some generous riders I'm up to $610, another $390 to reach my goal.

If you can make a $5 tax deductible donation today, myself and the ADA appreciates it.

progress continues on my march towards my goal.

Some very generous DMF'ers have helped me get even closer.  I'm now only $290 short of my goal with about 3 more months to go.

Still no luck on getting some of my non-piratey friends to join me, but that's OK.  We all ride for different reasons, I can't expect them to jump on board at my urging.

I know things are tight for a lot of people, but if you can make a $5 tax deductible donation to the ADA by following the link below, I would really appreciate it:
